May be it's the Ponting being an idiot factor too, but said it long time ago, the OZs won't win as many and as easily as before after McWarne pair retires and that's exactly what's happening. Agree with Dhondy, Warne was more than a superb bowler, he had very good understanding of the game, unlike Ponting. I'm sure there are other good bowlers in the ranks, but those two are not replaceable so easily, specially Warne.

Well and truly the end has happened. With Warne in the side, it was inconceivable for a touring side to chase down 400+ with so much ease.

Their demise is worse then I thought. I knew there bowling would be pants but even the batting seems ordinary with ageing batters. Hayden is an oap, ponting has wrist injuries and is to busy shooting his mouth of and even Hussey is showling flaws, he is no spring chicken dont forget. And clarke does pretty knocks without getting the massive scores. Aussie era is well and truly over as I predicted long time back:--D

McGrath, Warne, and Gilchrist would be top contenders for an all time World XI - to keep the team going after their departure was never going to be easy. But the end has been pretty abrupt. I would have thought the Aussies would keep going on the old fuel for another season or so, but it seems Sydney '08 has changed all that. They have a grand total of 4 test wins after Sydney, all against the number 7 and 8 ranked sides of the world. They have gone 6 straight test matches without beating India. South Africa has become the second team in a space of 11 months to upstage them at their Perth fortress. It's not just crumbling, it's falling apart very quickly. Yes, there are 5 more tests to go in this duel but I have not seen the Australian side in such disarray for a couple of decades.

perhaps. but the fact still remains, this was a match the aussies dominated till the lat 1.5 days and LOST. we've heard before one or two bad series doesn't mean anything, and i agree. but australia has not beaten a top side in a while. they lost 2-1 at home (if you take out bucknor's engineering) to india a year ago, then lost 2-0 to the same team in india couple months ago. they haven't beaten the living pulp out of anyone in a while, something which they used to do all the time. last time they toured SA, they won the tests 3-0. does anyone think they could pull that off now? australia is not a crappy side for sure. but they aren't the same australia which everyone used to talk about either.

No end. Just pi ss poor team selection. With bowlers like Bollinger and Noffke around, why would you pick a passenger like Krecza at Perth? Match figures: 49-4-204-1. The single biggest reason for Australia's loss. How long will spinners continue to dupe selectors the world over into thinking that they are match winners?

But that'd have been tricky call Dhondy. Krietza is coming off a spectacular debut series vs India. And its not as if the replacement pacers were a class apart. IMO, Stuart Clark's unavailability was the death knell for the Aussies. He totally owned the Saffie batsmen in their previous encounters. Aussie batting will be fine (even without their best batsmen firing, they set 400+ as the target), but where they gonna get the bowlers to take 20 wickets ? I dont think Bollinger or Hilfenhaus is going to do it. Lee will have to find his mojo.

Horses for courses. Why select a rookie spinner at Perth ahead of Watson, who was the second most successful Aussie bowler in India. Come to think of it, why select Siddle ahead of Watson? The latter comprehensively outbowled him in India.

Aussies really going down hill. They are going down faster then Paris Hilton. Have picked a 37 year old for his debut who 2 years ago was not playing cricket but was in IT. Yes thats how bad their spin dept is. They have tried so many spinners in last 12 months that have lost track. The one thing consistent about all of them is they are pants. They have picked Ronald Mcdonald in their team as the all rounder. He has the supreme talent of not being able to bowl or bat! He is awful. Huusey seems over the hill and past it. Even Ponting seems to have lost his spark. Siddle is awful and is a poor mans Bichel and lets face it Bichel was not the great anyway! Haddin is an awful keeper and is in Prior's league. He is lucky he has no spinner who can turn the ball to keep to. In fact last 2 tests did not even play a spinner. His batting is also very hit and miss, seems a quick 40 and out type. Also not convinced about Jacques or Craptich at all. Jacques will be exposed big time in due course, mark my words! Their only saving grace is they are approaching the ashes against an awful england team. God I wish we were playing the aussies in oz, we would paste them!

What the hell is dsr smoking? Aus have won a Test series against SA in SA. Thats a terrific achievement not many teams can boast about. Now, granted Aus lost the series in Aus, but haven't they made a serious comeback by winning this Test series? End indeed :hysterical:

Does that statement make sense to you? How are they bad if they can beat any other team anyday of the week?
