He needs to become lot more consistent and patient. On Indian wickets, there is not a lot of help for fast bowlers. Its the spinners who do the damage and seamers are there to give them support and try to put pressure. So average will always be high for them.

That again proves how rarely successful fast bowlers in India can be. How did Aussie bowlers bowl in the first 2 tests ? They were largely ineffective and looked mediocre but these very bowlers create all sorts of problems in Eng, Aus and SA. Again, I'm not saying Ishant is bowling great. He needs to improve a lot, especially his wrist position so he can land the ball on seam and have more control. I wont have a problem if he is replaced.

He has really struggled in his last 12-13 tests, not even 20 wickets Since WI tour to India in 2011 and that has really depleted his stats and that is not his fault but selectors who are keep picking despite him being struggling with technical issues in his bowling. They are keep playing him in a hope that he will turn a corner but if he continues to play it will do more harm than good for him.

After 50 Tests Kapil Dev 200 & 29.33 Srinath 185 @ 29.24 Zaheer Khan 160 @ 33.33 Ishant 138 @ 40 (approx.)

So we are producing a worse pacer every decade. In 2023 we may have a pacer who will take 97 wickets from 50 tests @ 53. :((
