Desi, and sub-continent folks in general, love folks/bosses who are laid back than the ones who get you out of your comfort zone and demand results. I suspect status quo suits Indian players and Fletcher perfectly. Indian players don't want a coach who's on their back all the time, and Fletcher is content to be a yes man pocketing free money. BCCI is happy coz there are no controversies and they end making either way - with India winning or losing.

I think coaches role is over rated at the highest level. Coach is important for green horns, youngsters at a lower level to make them better form the grass root. I think Fletcher should be given the job to identify new talent for Team India in this rebuilding phase and help them prepare for that. Likes of Rahane, Manprit Juneja, Rayudu, Robin Bist, Rohit, Baba, Rohit, Tiwary, Unmukt, KL Rahul, Vihari, Jadhav, Tare, Smit Patel, Ankit Bawne, Jivanjot, Rawal, Reddy, Pandey. There is a lot of talent in batting and identify new young pacers. There is a lot of talent there to work with consistent batting and bowling camps of young players at NCA under the guidance of national team coaches are needed to be organized to assess their progress. But alas, that is not going to happen.

Anyone but Fletcher would do. I wouldn't mind even a mumbling and fumbling Madan Lal about whom Akash Chopra said only advice he gave as Delhi coach was "josh se khelo".

Well seriously I feel, if people are overreacting, if Fletcher had gone some new puppet for Dhoni would have taken the stage. Dhoni is the dictator at the moment and until he he gets kicked out or loses the powers which have been given in his hand, don't feel anything will change, Fletcher or Fleming or anyone else.
