Setting all rumours to the contrary to rest, India opener Gautam Gambhir on Thursday confirmed his participation in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). "I am available for the IPL. It's a mild jaundice, hoping to be good in 4-5 days time," Gambhir tweeted. The left-hander missed the last two matches for Delhi in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy due to illness and also missed a chance to make a return to the Indian national side after being selected to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan for the fourth and final Test match against Australia starting Friday.

The real question is how the hell does an athlete in India get jaundice? Just how poor a diet are these people having? I have never got anything in India cause it stick to bottled water and ensure that all the street food I eat when i visit mumbai is piping hot.

This was some poor stuff from GG It is quite evident that Indian players priotorize IPL ahead of national commitments but dont want to be too harsh. Why wouldnt one be interested to play in a T20 tournament with full crowds, big money, big players coming in from everywhere. Any Indian player would want to be involved. International cricket these days lack crowd, fan following, etc.

So if you eat biryani one day and have to miss school/office for couple of days. The infection is mild but you can't go to work and someone asks you if you will e back on Monday next week as there is a picnic, so what should you say ? That your diarrhea will last 8 days or that you expect to be fine in 3-4 days and will be at the picnic ?

Lets not make conspiracy theories. The IPL starts on the 3rd of April and the fourth test ends on the 26th of March there is nearly a week. Somebody like Gambhir will be more than up for getting his place back in the Indian test team. India fans are way off the mark when they say that the IPL is where the big money is. The really big money is in endorsements which comes from playing for team India in all formats.
