What was shocking was that Dhoni had picked this guy ahead of Umesh Yadav. That speaks volumes about the potential-spotting talent of our dear captain!

May be cool conditions in NZ helped him then, but he is bowling very well right now. He is quicker than what he was in SA now. He did bowl well against Mumbai and MP in live matches. He is improving and he is still one of the youngest of the new pacers. But only gripe is, he is still too thin, needs go to gym and have some muscles on his body like Yadav.

I was shocked to see Umesh omitted that day. But then, knowing Dhoni's choice of players for Tests (Raina, Yuvraj, etc.), I guess I shouldn't have been shocked.

csk is a batting side, always needs good local bowlers because it depends on australian fast bowlers, if Pankaj gets into csk he has a good chance to impress dhoni.

Pankaj Singh, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Shami Ahmed would be the 4 quicks I'd pick for the squad for South Africa, with Sreesanth as a backup (due to his impressive record in South Africa)

The only change I would make to that line-up is pick Praveen Kumar instead of Sreesanth. PK has been prolific in Test cricket in the limited opportunities he's got and was a rare success in England among all the other failures.
