The Realist Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The Good: Actually managing to win games despite having passengers in the team like Ishant “50+ tests” Sharma and Harbhajan “only picked for nuisance value” Singh The Bad: Convincing BBCI to extend the contract of Duncan Fletcher and that he is actually a real coach as opposed to a mute over-inflated dummy The Ugly: Playing favourites stubbornly despite all evidence stating they suck ie. same team picked in every match in Aus when losing 0-4
Trundler27 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 To survive as kaptaan after 0-8. I have wholeheartedly agree.... that was possible only in India.... I'm sure even the pakis would have removed either captain or coach or both :hatsoff: The WC can never be a captains achievement (it was a great team effort for us) though he deserves credit for leading from the front on various occassions...... If anything, UV and Zak were more valuable than him in that triumph. Same thing goes for how pakis like to toot imran khan as the man who gave them the 92 cup.... he did not... he had crazy players like wasim, inzi, etc
saneindian Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 World Cup win. Only a series win whitewashing the Aussies or Saffers away from home would surpass that moment of Indian cricket.
Raghav_12 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 To survive as kaptaan after 0-8. So true..:hysterical: No captain would have achieved that. On serious note, Draw earned in SA (2010-11) is biggest achievement of Indian cricket where Dhoni happened to be captain.

Raghav_12 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Draw in Oz 2004 was greater. Far far better team. Don't think Dhoni captained that side in Oz
ganeshran Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 To survive as kaptaan after 10-1. FTFY :haha: On a serious note, nothing else comes close to the world cup win.
deathmonger Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Don't think Dhoni captained that side in Oz OK. Sorry, I interpreted your statement as the greatest achievement of Indian cricket (without the Dhoni part).

On serious note, Draw earned in SA (2010-11) is biggest achievement of Indian cricket where Dhoni happened to be captain. :hysterical: so 8-0 due to Dhoni but 1-1 was due to team where Dhoni happened to be the captain Still don't get why Sachin fanbois are so anti-Dhoni
rkt.india Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Draw in Oz 2004 was greater. Far far better team. Bowling attack was not as good in absence of Mcgrath and Warne. Lee had just made come back after injury and flattest tracks at Adelaide and SCG. SA tour was tougher than that.

BeautifulGame Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Draw in Oz 2004 was greater. Far far better team. Not really.Their bowling attack was depleted (No Macgrath or Warne) and Gillepese and Lee were coming back from injuries and out of form. And we managed to draw the Sydney test when we really should have won. If its only about test cricket then 2-1 win at home against Aus at home was our greatest achievement.Nothing even comes close imo. We beat an Aus team considered the greatest ever (won 16 tests in a row) without our best 2 bowlers (Kumble and Srinath) injured.

SA tour was tougher than that. What about bowling efforts on the flattest tracks against one of the best batting line-ups ever. Hayden, Langer, Ponting ( in Bradmanesque form), Martin, Katich, Waugh, Gilchrist.

Hayden, Langer, Ponting ( in Bradmanesque form), Martin, Katich, Waugh, Gilchrist. Lord Aggy Had a cursory look at the bowling averages of the Aussies that series Gillespie 38 Bichel 50 Mcgll 51 Bracken 59 Lee 60 Wonder if an Aussie bowling line up has ever been smashed like that in a home series. Viru, Chopra, RD, Sachin, VVS, Dada
Number Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 That we managed to take 20 wkts once in four tests ? Kumble and Pathan would have won us in Sydney too but Parthiv.
deathmonger Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 FTFY :haha: On a serious note, nothing else comes close to the world cup win. FFS, there were series between that 10-1. You can't just cobble together series for your own convenience. Well yes now you might say - Yeah so what, they just whitewashed a weak NZ team. Well this same "weak" NZ team drew it's last series against England and Oz. Heck they even drew in SL by winning a match in conditions difficult for them.
Yoda-esque Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 To survive as kaptaan after 0-8. You are relentless. :hysterical: He becomes very "bhavuk" while talking about Dhoni..
Vilander Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 if we say 10-1 then we have to say 10-5. Its just 8-0 its still pathetic but not 10-1.
