There is crime all over the world.so it's unfair to compare. let me give you insight into the situation regarding expats in SA. the guys from India who come to SA open up barber shops every corner, and sell Bollywood DVDs The Pakistanis open TIKKA chicken every second shop, btw I love it. And also cellphone repairs. but here , unfortunately is where the problem is, the pakis,bangledeshis, Zimbabweans, rest of Africa, go to the informal settlements , squatter camps, ,shanty towns, and open up shops, literally a zinc tin square house, and sell product so cheap that the few poor black people who had shops cannot make a living because of this, this is where the problem starts, they get attacked shops burnt down, zenaphobia takes over., unfortunately in this case it was 5 pakis who got killed, In any country, if you go to the wrong place and try and dictate the shots, violenc and trouble will come knocking sooner then you think. During the past one year itself, I have been hearing news about murders and terrorist attacks almost every day from these places and several other places from Pak. Criminals can be neutralized by the security. Their intention is not the killing of people (mostly robbery, rape etc) and neither are they going to indulge in suicide bombing. Link to comment

The problem with Pakistan is not about the crime rate. That can be controlled because the players will not head out of their hotels if the area does not appear safe. The problem is that all foreigners seem to be targeted by terrorists. If they could not even spare Sri Lankans, how are the South Africans going to feel safe? Link to comment
