FischerTal Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Do foreign IPL coaches improve Indian cricketers? Wasim certainly didnt help with Ishant. I am interested in knowing opinion of ICF members. This year, Donald will be coaching young bowling talents like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishwar Pandey. Will he be able to improve them or is it just another job for foreign coaches that ends when IPL ends?

Will they make positive differences to our bowlers or is it just confined to IPL

The come to the IPL under the pretense of helping Indian teams and players by developing their talent. But their ultimate aim is to overtake the BCCI by making the various IPL franchises and local boards fight among themselves. Down with the foreigners, I say.

Jokers. But people love it. You think the game has any chance of surviving if only test cricket is played ? Not even 5 % of people in India watch tests.

Jokers. Finey, with all due respect, what specifically is your grouse? And what is disproportionate about it? Who decides the right proportions? The reach of the IPL is much more than the reach of a test match or an ODI series, speaking in terms of viewership and brand re-call. So, maybe its not so disproportionate afterall. What's wrong if people are making 'more' money? And It also provides entertainment to a whole bunch of people, and employment to thousands.

Per IPL team, there are about 20-24 players which means that a coach is unable to give enough time to the players. Also, given that the teams are quite busy with flights, after parties and stuffs, the players dont really get enough time to coach. Its no wonder that Kumars, patels and others are still ordinary

fineleg Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Mariyam, The grouse is that IPL has a negative impact on the quality and commitment to cricket, and temperament of young batsmen and bowlers who are to be shouldering the real Test and ODI cricket responsibilities of the Indian team in the next 5, 10, 15 years. This IPL tamasha is not without serious side effects to Indian cricket. Yes it is fun to troll in IPL subforum, and we can all do that - making fun of csk or bambis or dillis, but that apart - the side-effects on Indian cricket are a worry. Not just youngsters, a Zaheer Khan or Sehwag is less committed to fighting their way back into the Indian team. They can rub their belly, make money in IPL and yawn. Is IPL making ppl (senior players too) lazy to work hard and find their way into Indian team?
