oneANDone Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 IPL as a whole property is still brittle, some thing like glass house, here u can see everything both inside and outside bcz of extensive money played. Everyone wants to throw stones at it to get notified. Even Kejrival take his shot today... I would say media played major role to bring down its charm and run extensive debates about its negatives only. After all we people when start to hate then we hate like anything. Nobody has questions when our film industry produce blooded and vengeance movies, bcz it has flashback were hero affected by villians 20 yrs back. Nobody has questions when bald heads earns 10th amount of IPL money for single movie. If the top management of IPL has clear vision then i have no doubt that it will reach its pinnacle sooner or later.

Its a direct hit to their business and they know their content is way inferior to IPL for people who are mad about cricket. I would rather watch a T20 game over the mind numbing saas bahu serials or Bollywood rubbish. So they find some ways to berate it to bring down its popularity. The sooner they realize IPL is here to stay and learn to deal with it, the better for everybody.

They've been in the showbiz for longer than the folks running the IPL. They're going to (and have already started) Bollywoodizing IPL. They promote their movies during the IPL. They promote those dreary soaps too. If its one thing that the film fraternity is an expert in, it is knowing how to stay relevant.

I know of a cinema in the city of thane whereby you can watch the late ipl game followed by a movie on a big screen at a discount price. Say if 10 bollywood movies are released, in the april may period i dont think anything is stopping most people from watching both that and matches they are interested in the ipl. Very few people watch all the ipl games. The day the team you support/follow is not playing is the day you watch some bollywood films.

Be it the english commentators reminding everyone that jadeja is the 2 million man during a test series or the way cricinfo talks more about what the players earn than their match statistics. Apart from the occasional jabs, you dont hear about Alex rodiguez pay check at NYY or Beckhams stay at LA. But in cricket, the IPL players come out to play with a price tag on their head. Dailymail today called the IPL, the Indian pensioners league, forgetting that these pensioners have beat their county champions every year in the CL. They wrote that we shouldn't expect quality in the IPL and its just entertainment. Telling professional sportsmen that they are not trying to win but just playing for money, you dont see that in other sports.

And dont let too many pakistani players play and dont make them captain..that would be enough And also, BCCI should take less money and give a larger amount of money to the franchises to maintain their interest

That's because it's still a very new concept. 10 years down the line it's going to be considered normal. Cricket was never this commercial, and it's going to take some time for the old brigade to get used to it. Also, in other sports you hear a lot of criticism regarding player wages. In football such accusations are made week in, week out.

Indian Media has become a joke.... No Semblance of Credibility and most anchors (seniors n amateurs) have the maturity of a 3 yr old kid (or) are dey dancin to the whims n fancies of der masters??

So much money at stake for circketers, board, concerned parties, other country boards... DId you see any other country like Australian board, SA board, Srilankan board talking about it though SA and CA are part of CL group. It will all be water under bridge.
