Straight Drive Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 In Miller's case it was not T20.. It was more T10. When he walked in he had 12 overs left. When he walked out 2 overs left. Whatever, 74 runs more is too much in T20. For me Gayle's innings is best, for you Millers is best .
sscomp32 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 For me miller is the best. Because of the classy hitting. dpgSpLLrDTY
Swing_n_Speed Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 ^^^ :hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff: Watch on mute though, Siva's commentary is downright pathetic!
gaurav92 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Millers ton is the best knock in this year's IPL for me :hatsoff:
rkt.india Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Gayle was sheer intimidation with the kind of big sixes he had hit. No matter the ground was small but most of his sixes were big and 6 on any ground. Bowler would rue being bowlers on such days. Miller was sheer bravado, outrageous, unseen match winning stuff stuff. Only matchable innings to this was Youchup's 37 ball 100 against MI, very much similar circumstances, but even bigger score to chase, but that could not get them a win because he was not as lucky as Miller.
Debutant Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Miller's innings yesterday has to be the best taking into consideration that he was the last good batsman and the team depended/expected him to perform something extraordinary. Chasing such a huge total is more difficult than batting first.
adi B Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 gayle`s 175 was better than miller`s knock yesterdy,rp,vinee are the worst bowlers on such patta, had gayle faced these 2 loonies,he would have equaled millers innings if not bettered it. tbh MI have the best bowling attack in the tournie, score a blistering 100 against them at wankhede, win my vote :nice:
Pagalpanti Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Why do people think batting first means no pressure? Gayle single-handedly blew PWI out of the game in the first 10 overs - thats called IMPACT!! Miller's innings is excellent as well but he had literally no choice.. 90-odd required from 6 overs.. so batsman have the licence to go, he went all guns blazing and it came off..

Pressure is always there on international cricketers, whatever the format they are playing. Gayle opens the batting and has to face the ball which swings during those early overs and the bowlers and fielders are totally fresh to grab the opportunity. Also there is pressure of putting a huge score upfront so that bowlers are not left defending a small total.Last but not the least Gayle carries pressure of billions of fans due to expectations that he should knock a quick paced 100 every time he walks in to bat. Some cricketers have not even scored 175 in test matches.

Gayle chose to take the initiative while Miller was forced to take initiative and then it came off. Gayle should be given credit for that. Also, no extra points should be given to Miller on account of his being second innings or being last recognize batsmen etc. Both Miller and Gayle hit top gear giving it whatever they had, without any consideration to situation or context.
