Even in 2007-2008, they had done very well. Rahul Shukla picked 25 wickets at an average of 13 and Aaron 19 wickets at 20. Rahul Shukla's best 8/34 was not surpassed by anyone in that season. I always maintained Rahul Shukla's performance was better than Aaron at junior level. Only one of the top wicket taker Argal played in 2008 WC, but not the top wicket taker Mohammad Mudassir from J&K, neither Bhuveneshwar Kumar, nor Abhimanyu Mithun or Koppala Achyutananda Reddy who all got more wickets than Ajitesh Argal and Kaul. Sangwan did not even play Cooch Behar trophy that year and still played U19 WC. Duwarapu Sivakumar had 4 wickets that season at 45. Bhuvi and Mithun among the Top 3 :woot: Bhuvi's was really outstanding - 37 wickets at an average of 12. Four 5-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket hauls. :woot: which no one else got Mithun got the same number of wickets at an average of 19. I am guessing there must be some politics, not sure whether it was a quota-based one. Both Argal and Kaul did get more wickets than Aaron and Shukla. Sangwan was already playing Ranji for Delhi perhaps, but dunno how he got through since they forced Kohli to play the tournament. Sivakumar might have gone as an allrounder. But I am shocked that Bhuvi did not go despite such outstanding performances, poor boy must have been gutted. :((

That is because they played more matches being in stronger teams. Shukla averaged 13. Sivakumar did not even play one match in WC.

Shukla didn't do that well in FC matches while Aaron did. Both have great potential. We shouldn't chose one but both should be in our pool of pacers.

Shukla should be next in line for ODIs...should take Dhawal's spot.He & Bumrah should come in & we should rotate our top 5 who are BK,Ishant,Umesh,Aaron & Shami along with these 2.

Very much disagree. Shukla cannot be picked purely for pace because there is little evidence that he is over 140kph consistently (every game). You can pick someone like Aaron purely for pace (as an example, he is of course a very skilled bowler) because he is always 140kph but Shukla I've seen drop to the low 130s even in IPL games.

Shukla is mostly 135-140 range. He is not 140-145 bowler now. He did bowl at that pace in that IPL though. He has the ability but his action is such that he might not be consistent in pace.
