Ashiwn is a technical batsmen. He can bat as well as bowl. But he can not play spin well. But he can destroy fast bowlers well because of his height and technique. He will be handy against SA with the likes of steyn, morkel, and philander.

Srini mama arranged for the phix so his gay son can bet on it and give the money as a retention bonus to jaddu in exchange for sexual favors from Dhoni.

One of my friends mentioned this. Since Ashwin himself is a mystery spinner and has grown up quite a few mystery spinners in his chennai early days perhaps Dhoni and Fleming thought he can read and survive Narine and Senanayake better than most
That's like saying Steyn will be the best player of fast bowling because he knows all the tricks of the trade. Warne and Murali, 2 all time greatest spinners sucked against spin bowling

"I think Ashwin's role was to try and get us off to a quick start, look to take advantage of the first six overs and he had a licence to tee off. He hit a couple of good boundaries but, as it can happen in T20 cricket, you can get out anytime," Hussey told the IPL site. "I think there was pressure all the way through, because it was a difficult surface to bat on. It was almost a case of if you play properly, try and work the ones and twos, it can be very difficult to score; but if you try and tee off it might just work."

Dhoni was trying to win the "Nayi Soch" award.
but they gave it to Ash in the end! As if Ash himself came out to open! By that logic, Yagnik should have received the Nayi Soch Award instead of Dravid in that RR-MI game

but Ashwin is not a pinch hitter. if they wanted a pinch hitter Morris and Morkel were better options.
True. I also thought that it should have been one of Bravo/Morkel/Morris if they wanted quick runs.

Yeah its just a crap award and all but still they should use some sort of logic!

Same here - Dhoni promoted Ashwin to open the innings. Ashwin did what he was told to do.

You never complained when Dhoni got all those undeserving MOMs?

But the difference is Yagnik did the damage' date=' Ashwin did not.[/quote'] He did play out Senenayake a real danger (apart from Narine ) though and didnt waste deliveries either. So he did a decent job imo
