vishalvirsingh Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Problem is that Irfan is under 122K now a days and few balls touching 125 Faster one"s are 125 126......
Texan Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Agree. People are deluded. His strength was always swing at around 130-135. Bowling an odd quick ball doesnt make him quick. He isn't swinging the ball either. Pace is not a big concern if you can get appreciable late swing. His problem is that he has lost the ability to get prodigious swing that he got earlier on in his career. He's still a good option for LOIs and possibly even Tests away from home where he can expect to get more swing.
maniac Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Irfan's strength was never pace....he was a better version of Bhuvan at his peak. Also the hatrick he got in Pak if I remember were all 120 and below deliveries.

Also the hatrick he got in Pak if I remember were all 120 and below deliveries. better version of bhuvan ? he never swung the ball both ways and that hattrick came after string of failures and waso nly good performance in long time
maniac Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 better version of bhuvan ? he never swung the ball both ways and that hattrick came after string of failures and waso nly good performance in long time Pathan has test 100's and 100 test wickets....Not saying Bhuvi is not talented but has a long way to go before we can proclaim he is better than Pathan in any sense....On Current Form yes Bhuvi>Pathan but overall 'not yet'
maniac Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 ^Also as I said Pathan at his Peak>Bhuvan on current form that's what I meant
Old guy Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 ^Also as I said Pathan at his Peak>Bhuvan on current form that's what I meant most of pathan's wickets were against minnows he was never really a good test bowler imo and i rate bhuvi much higher then pathan its no brainer for me
maniac Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 most of pathan's wickets were against minnows he was never really a good test bowler imo and i rate bhuvi much higher then pathan its no brainer for me Dude I am not saying Bhuvan will not have a better career at the end than Patahn...the guy was M.O.M in the Perth Test...Did well against Pak in both ODI and Test series and was one of the reasons we won world T20 2007
Old guy Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Dude I am not saying Bhuvan will not have a better career at the end than Patahn...the guy was M.O.M in the Perth Test...Did well against Pak in both ODI and Test series and was one of the reasons we won world T20 2007 and he is still here but most of his career he has been mediocre ,he is useful but even at his peak he was nothing special bhuvan has also help us win test match and lets just wait for away tours and see how he does..
maniac Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 and he is still here but most of his career he has been mediocre ,he is useful but even at his peak he was nothing specialbhuvan has also help us win test match and lets just wait for away tours and see how he does.. Pathan has fizzled away,no doubt.....but when he started his career he was one of the most promising cricketer in the world.....Bhuvan never got the same amount of hype...but yes he is one of the most promising new ball bowlers around along with Junaid and the S.A guy who destroyed Pak in the 3rd test...As of now Patahan's accomplishments>Bhuvans but it's unfair as we are comparing a guy who has been around for nearly 10 years with a rookie....let's wait and watch
maniac Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 ^Also Pathan's batting skills added to the hype though I must admit but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet on Bhuvan...but the promise is there....can't rate him completely yet on a couple of spells

I think we are going off track here....The op was about Pathan's pace and all i said was Pathan's strength or when he was at his best had nothing to do with how fast he was bowling Pathan vs Bhuvan is like comparing apples to oranges...let Bhuvan play longer and we will revisit that discussion...hopefully Pathan will not be the benchmark for him by then /Discussion

rkt.india Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 He isn't swinging the ball either. Pace is not a big concern if you can get appreciable late swing. His problem is that he has lost the ability to get prodigious swing that he got earlier on in his career. He's still a good option for LOIs and possibly even Tests away from home where he can expect to get more swing. You need conditions to swing the ball appreciably. He will swing the bowl if he gets that. Even day before yesterday, he was swinging the new ball against KXIP. He beaten Gilly with an edge which went for 4 and next ball swung away which Gilly top edged while trying to loft of mid off.
rkt.india Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Cannot say anything about BK right now. He needs to play more for that.
rishi008 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 The problem with irfan is after initial 2 overs...batsman treat him like part time bowlers....he has to find a solution for it.... Solution is to increase the pace or start bowling yorkers in final overs....or else dont see him making to the Indian team...

Only if it was so easy to bowl yorkers then everyone would have been doing that.
