Ashwin scored international fifties at a regular basis. He started his career as an opening batsmen. Ooh, sorry, no one told Rohit sharma about Dhoni's master plan and he cheated and brought a spinner against Ashwin when Dhoni clearly wanted him to play pace. MI should be deducted fair play points for this
Straight Drive Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 It is quite understandable to send Badrinath or even Jaddu ahead of a batsman. However, sending Ashwin in that situation was like having a tailender in T20.Dhoni is one of the most brilliant captain but today he was just not up to the fight.

That's a fantastic record and has won so many games single handedly for CSK. I would say his IPL record is much better than international T20 games.

After 8 overs both teams were similar scores, only difference was, MI hadn't lost a single wicket and CSK had lost 5 on a difficult pitch. And he was not hiding down the order like captain cool BTW if you really want to bash, there are already other threads for him

His role is mostly a finisher and he generally bats in the last 10 overs. In any case, today's game is not very important and they seem to be trying different combinations like sending Ashwin up the order to anchor the innings along with Hussey, so that Dhoni and Jadeja can strike out at the end.

After getting owned by Narine like a school kid should have called it quits like Ponting did.. I know why he is playing. But he still should opt to come down the order.
