Some issues here, Firstly how exactly can a cricketer control their bowling? Like when to give runs or not give runs? I find it seriously stupid that now the police are commenting on how a bowler gave runs purposefully. You can bowl good and yet get smashed, similarly bowl poor, and get wickets. So where exactly is the spot fixing? If it was a no-ball or wide, it's understandable. But giving purposeful sixes/fours make little sense. If that is the case, let's doubt every ball that goes to the boundary.

Err, the simple reason that the number of runs was agreed BEFOREHAND and they have the transcripts of these players agreeing to that and showing signals for the same You do know you can bet on number of runs conceded by a bowler in an over right? And the categories will be something like less than 6, 6 to 10, 10 to 14 and over 14, etc

There is no way one can guarantee 14 runs of an over unless the batsmen are also in the deal. Wickets fall over full tosses as well. So if a wicket gets lost at 1st ball which new batsman would be willing to hit 14 runs of his first 5 balls irrespective of the quality of the bowling?

Not all deals work in a picture perfect manner. They're just showing the ones that worked out.

Yes, so its not a guarantee but a gamble. Bookies too lose money and is such cases the players who couldn't deliver have to return money. No investment in the world is 100% gauranteed. For example, they showed the Sreesanth over where he agreed to give over 14 but could give only 13 runs so Sreesanth did fail
