urbestfriend Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Accidentally bumped into a old 2001 interview with Azhar in which he hints about possible fixing by Gavaskar and Shastry. Was he simply throwing stones at the dark to give an impression that fixing was common or was there some truth in it? Do you think the Mumbai "lobby" has not been investigated deliberately? Yes. This aspect wasn't investigated by the authorities at all. Nobody talks of the Rs 70 lakh cash found in different currencies in Sunil Gavaskar's Gymkhana locker. What about Ravi Shastri's Ali Baug farmhouse and other costly properties? There was never big money in cricket before 1994. How did Vinod Kambli lose his money from a locker during a Ranji match? All this has not been looked into. http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?210723

ravishingravi Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Gavaskar did throw the 1975 WC game. Maybe not for money.
superstar Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Gavaskar name did come up in the Tehelka tapes. Not sure about Shastri. All our old heroes are most likely corrupt.
urbestfriend Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Never ever Shastry and Gavasjar spoke one sentence about fixing , albeit defending the IPL and how game is bigger than these small incidents..Is it because they feel guilty speaking against fixing?
vamos_rafa Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I also bumped into this a few days ago. He even mentioned Kambli I think.
Magneto Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Gavaskar name did come up in the Tehelka tapes. Not sure about Shastri. All our old heroes are most likely corrupt. If I remember clearly, the Tehelka tapes had nothing against Gavaskar. It was all about Kapil Dev all the way.

The 'Indian' news channels have mentioned a cricketer + commentator linked in this fixing saga. Might probably be Arun Lal.
