I6MTW Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I just recently visited coorg, ooty, and coonoor and I have been fascinated as India has 100's of hill stations across the country, the most by any country across the world. So here is thread to discuss the natural beauty and the best hill stations around India.
PriyankaSR Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I love love love Ladakh. They have beautiful ornaments there.
Detonator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 IMO, Kodaikaanal and Munnar is good .. I know it wouldn't come close to himalayas, but atleast in south india, they are best.. Ooty is where I did my schooling :--D
Sachin=GOD Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Binsar (a small place above Nainital) is my favorite hill station in India. Its a small, secluded place with nothing but wonderful views all around.
Detonator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I love love love Ladakh. They have beautiful ornaments there. typical :giggle:
I6MTW Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 I love love love Ladakh. They have beautiful ornaments there. I am fascinated by the tribal people over there and their culture. Plus the climate over there is nice if your from a very hot place and the flora and fauna over there is very rare and you can find all kinds of animals and plants. But now Ladakh is also being commercialized. In fact the only hill station that hasn't been commercialized yet is Coorg.
PriyankaSR Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 typical :giggle: :beee: I am fascinated by the tribal people over there and their culture. SLICKR392 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Sikkim is very snowy. Certain parts. I was in Gangtok for 2 years and it never snowed there but regular hail storms.

Ooty is where I did my schooling :--D Ooty is turning into a major town now and trees are being cut and pollution everywhere. It's losing it's charm.
I6MTW Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Certain parts. I was in Gangtok for 2 years and it never snowed there but regular hail storms. Yea, I haven't been there yet but I just heard it's very snowy since it's located near the Himalayas.
Detonator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Ooty is turning into a major town now and trees are being cut and pollution everywhere. It's losing it's charm. Agree. It's become more famous and tourists are flocking during season, which made it into mess. I miss that less crowded Ooty, when I studied there :((
I6MTW Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Matheran It's the only hill station in Maharasthra worth visiting.

I miss that less crowded Ooty, when I studied there :(( Coonoor is still there. So is Kodai Kanal. Coorg is still not yet commercialized or industrialized and it's full of peacefulness and greenery.
Detonator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Matheran +1 Along with Mahabaleshwar. THAT Falooda :woot:
Detonator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Coonoor is still there. So is Kodai Kanal. Coorg is still not yet commercialized or industrialized and it's full of peacefulness and greenery. Even conoor is slowly losing it's charm. Only Kodai, yerkaud, valparai, velliangiri, kolli hills are left with greenery.
