Nothing but soap operas, reality shows, shows about Bollywood etc. :wall: How come quality of entertainment on tv is so poor ? Why cant these people at least copy American shows and make half decent sitcoms or drama shows ?

Sachin=GOD Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 about 2-3 years ago I used to watch a lot of TLC/Goodtimes/Fox History/Fox traveller etc but now even these channels have mainly Food related shows. SAB TV's shows are no longer as good but they're still better than anything else on the GECs. IMO there's really big market for good, clean comedy/satire shows but all we get is the pathetic Comedy Circus type of shows.

Also, it seems as if the judges, especially Archana Puran Singh, have been given money only to laugh whether the joke is funny or not. Or maybe I expect too much after watching so many great British/American shows :hmmm:

And yeah Archana looks like she is paid for laughing!

Forget about shows like Dexter, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Lost etc. They are too high quality. They dont even make sitcoms like Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory etc. which could be done on a smaller budget and appeal to a lot of people, particularly younger folks.

I think they tried that with all MTV VJs. Nikhil Chinnappa, Maria G(?) etc. I watched only one episode, it sucked monkiez balls.
The Outsider Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Even American TV is pretty mediocre, but Indian TV is just the pits. The only thing you can watch without frying your brain is sports and on some rare occasions a decent movie. What I find more irritating than even those soap operas, which can still fill in for unintentional comedy, are the singing, dancing, and comedy shows. Specially the comedy shows - they are completely mind numbing and I don't think I've even smiled at one of their lame jokes ever, let alone laugh.

coffee_rules Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I watched SRGMP and Indian Idol. Even shows like KBC is catered for the LCD. Atleast American TV on cable is still good. Quite a few good drama/action series. Good tv for mature adults in India happened only in the 80s-early 90s with DD. With Cable tv (Zee, Sony, Star), the quality went downhill.
