My disliking for Bradman comes from his life after cricket, where he ran the Aussie cricket board like a Nazi, and his blanket refusal to pay players fairly when he wanted them to play for free, and his incredible lack of foresight into the future of cricket, he just cared about milking as much money into his own pockets. was awesome when Kerry Packer beat the board in 1979, and apparently remarked about Bradman "tell the little c * n t to go f * c k himself". AWESOME! Most Aussie players of the 70's had little respect for Bradman as an administrator.

Players are hated in immediate aftermath of incident but eventually legends are able to establish themselves among cricket fans of all the countries, by the time they retire. It would have been unimaginable to think that Ponting would have kind of respect in India as he does now. On poll, yes it is useless exercise as they going to choose Bradman eventually. but I believe they should move over Bradman now. That was different era, different game. If you compare video clippping it doesn't even look like if current version is natural progression of the version that Bradman played. Humans may have more similarity to apes than current cricket has with Bradman era. Now legends from recent golden genaration like Warne, McGrath and Ponting should be given their due and should be allowed to compete for greatest ever without the burden of legacy of Bradman.

Gavaskar apart, nobody has saved his team as much as AB has. And Warney still won more matches for Aussies than Pigeon did. Though i must say, Pigeon had a dominant/competetive record against the two best batsmen of his time- Lara and Tendulkar,while having dominated other 'fulcrums of their batting lineups' too. But its usually Warney who's done the winning by triggering slides and stuff.

carnish Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 For me the greatest Aussie cricketer I saw playing was Matthew Hayden and yes, I saw both warne and McGrath play but the agressive form of cricket played by Hayden was awesome. He may not have the stats to compete with other Aussie greats but I will always remember him to be the man who instilled fear in all opposition bowlers and with remarkable consistency.

At least I infer from most of your videos. bowlers win matches! its funny, my channel was known as a batting video channel, were hardly any bowling videos. Now, its different. The last 13 years of flat pitches hasnt helped!
Sooda Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Quite interestingly done, but I wonder how these match ups were seleted- was it random I mean one of them is O Reilly vs Warne, another is Benaud vs Grimmet. I would think O Reilly and Warne were both better than Grimmet and Benaud so would have been nicer to have say Benaud vs Warne and O'R v his partner in crime Grimmet. Similary why have S Waugh and Border pitted against each other in round one, and G Chappel vs Harvey... those are the most interesting head to heads though.. Border or Tugga should swap with McCabe ust So better cricketer swere around in later rounds Interesting that Spofforth got more votes than Jeff Thommo...:hmmm:

And had the upper hand on the GOAT batsmen like Lara and Kallis. Only Tendulkar played him well being a god and all. Only series he averaged poorly in tests against McGrath was 04 when he was in terrible form. 500+ wickets for a fast bowler. Even in ODI's he was excellent, so many wickets in World Cups and World cup finals. Bradman not even once.
