Everyone has the opportunity to stay not out. It is his finishing skills that he finishes tight matches and stay not out. He won us a few matches because of that in both the CB series in 2008 and 2012.

now compare this with batsmen who come at no 5/6/7 and you will get an idea of why Dhoni has so many not outs (and hence a very high average). Not taking anything away from his batting, but its a fact that at his batting position, its not a surprise that he has a high average and many not outs.

From what I understand, RKT does not suggest that Tendulkar should remain Not Out. He's rather making a point that just because Dhoni remains NO those innings shouldn't be discounted casually.

He stayed not out in WC final as well. Wasn't that an innings that mattered? He is a complete ODI package we always wanted to have in the team and like in case of SRT, we will find it difficult to find an ODI cricketer like him too.

There is a case for which why the average for a NO innings should be counted normally (due to inflation of averages) but in no means should it be casually discounted fait accompli.
