then there was that 2011 WC match against SA - Goddy & Viru had a brilliant opening stand and then Gambhir played a good knock. After that the finisher only had to do his job properly and make some quick runs at the end - he remained not out on 12 from 21 balls while the rest of the batting order collapsed :adore:

For you the game of cricket begins and ends with statistics thats why you look at trophies, at averages etc and say Dhoni is better cricketer/better captain. I think non quantifiable factors are just as important (if not more) thats why I prefer Ganguly as Captain (for instilling self belief) and Goddy as player (for his sheer impact on the game and on many generations of youngsters) over Dhoni.
