The biggest thing in last team was the presence of experienced bowler like Sandeep Sharma. Unmukt Chand might have taken all the honours, but Sandeep Sharma was the deal who lead the bowling attack in all games. Also he had played the previous under 19 tournament during Mandeep Singh's time when Ashok Menaria was the captain, so he used all his experience in last under 19 world cup.

Good batting display by Indians in the 1st ODI. Shame it was washed away by rains. But it gave a glimpse of the bowling inefficiency, specially the quick bowlers, in absence of Milind, Sayyed they look. Vulnerable and are looking to their spinners to do all the work.

Zol, bowlers star in tight India win India Under-19s 240 (Zol 67, Bains 38, Karunaratne 4-44) beat Sri Lanka Under-19s 218 (Sumanasiri 73, Perera 47, Lamba 3-35) by 22 runs Vijay Zol hit a his second consecutive half-century to guide India to a 22-run victory in a closely fought match against Sri Lanka in the second Youth ODI in Kurunegala. Sri Lanka, chasing 241, were comfortably placed at 152 for 4, but Priyamal Perera's wicket triggered a collapse, with the hosts losing the remaining batsmen for just 66 runs, as all the Indian bowlers kept up the pressure and bowled at under six an over. India, electing to bat, got off to a good start as the openers Ankush Bains and Akhil Herwadkar struck a total of seven fours and one six, and added 70 for the first wicket. However, medium-pacer Chamika Karunaratne got the breakthroughs for Sri Lanka by dismissing the pair, as well as Sanju Samson in quick succession to leave India precariously placed at 84 for 3. Karunaratne was the pick of the bowlers, and eventually finished with 4 for 44. But Zol, coming in at No. 3, followed up his 76 in the first ODI with another crucial fifty, as India began to seize the initiative. Zol struck six fours and one six during his 75-ball 67, and put up a 62-run fifth-wicket stand with Ricky Bhui to take India to 177 after 38. Zol was eventually caught by Sadeera Samarawickrama off Roshan Anurudda, but offspinner Aamir Gani gave a late flourish to the innings with an 18-ball 25 that included three fours, pushing India to 240. Sri Lanka began their chase slowly, as medium-pacers Atit Sheth and Abhimanyu Lamba removed Kavindu Kulasekara, Minod Bhanuka and Kusal Mendis inside 10 overs. Samarawickrama tried to counterattack with a 52-ball 36, but was out leg before by left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav to leave Sri Lanka struggling at 77 for 4. Perera and Thilaksha Sumanasiri fought back with a 75-run fifth-wicket partnership to keep the match evenly poised, but Lamba bowled Perera in the 38th to hand India the initiative. Sumanasiri remained unbeaten by scoring 73 off just 82 balls, but with wickets falling regularly at the other end, he could make little difference, as the Indian bowlers held their nerves to bowl Sri Lanka out for 218.

Rain played spoilsport after Indian innings ended in the 1st U19 ODI vs Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka were 63 for one after 14.1 overs when the first Youth ODI against India was suspended because of persistent rain at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday. The match was called off with S Samarawickrama (25) and K Kulasekara (5) at the crease and Sri Lanka needing a revised target of 295 runs off 48 overs. India, in their first innings, set a stiff total of 301 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted quota of 50 overs. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Sri Lanka struck as early as in the second over with A Herwadkar getting run-out with just 7 runs on board. A Bains and V Zol dug in to consolidate and pushed the score to 134 after 26.2 overs before Nanayakkara got the better of Bains (59). Continuing his purple patch, Vijay Zol scored 76 off 95 balls. Nanayakkara scalped the Indian captain just as he looked determined to breach the three-figure mark. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson smashed a half-century (58 runs off 56 balls) to help India get past the 250-run mark. Samson was ably supported by R Bhui (49 runs off 45 balls). The visitors were looking at a good finish and the lower middle-order comprising D Hooda and S Khan just did that, scoring 34 runs from the last 21 balls. Indian colts register 22-run win in 2nd U19 ODI vs Sri Lanka

The Vijay Zol-led Indian colts took a 1-0 lead in three one-day series with a 22-run win against Sri Lanka Under-19s in a closely-fought second encounter at the Welagedara Stadium. Rain had played spoil sport in the first game on Sunday. Opting to bat first, India Under-19 openers Ankush Bains and Akhil Herwadkar got the visitors off to a good start and put together 70 runs, until the latter was dismissed. Introduced into the attack in the 15th over, pacer Chamika Karunaratne broke the partnership in his very first over and followed up with the wickets of Bains and Sanju Smason in his next two overs to push India on the back foot. Eight overs later, Roshan Anurudda claimed Sarfaraz Khan to leave India U19 on 115 for four. Ricky Bhui then joined Vijay Zol to arrest the fall of wickets and helped built a valuable stand of 62, before Anurudda struck again to remove the captain for 67. However, the Indian lower order added quick runs to help post a competitive total on the board, before getting bowled out. After Saveen Nanayakkara removed Deepak Hooda and Bhui, Karunaratne claimed Atit Sheth as his fourth scalp. And while Kuldeep Yadav was run out, Anurudda claimed Aamir Gani to bowl India out for 240 runs, with eight balls still remaining in the innings. Then, Sheth gave India an early breakthrough with the wicket of Minod Bhanuka in the third over, while Abhimanyu Lamba followed up with the wicket of Kavindu Kulasekara in the next. And although they lost skipper Kusal Mendis a bit later and were struggling on 44 for three, the middle order rallied on. Priyamal Perera made 47, before being castled by Lamba, while Thilaksha Sumanasiri held up one end. But the No.6 bat’s efforts were in vain as he ran out of partners and remained unbeaten on 73. With 23 runs still required to win, the hosts lost Nanayakkara and Binura Fernando in quick succession. While the former was sent back by Yadav, Fernando was run out off the last ball of the 47th over, thereby ending the SL U19 innings for 218. Lamba picked three wickets, while Yadav and Gani claimed two apiece and Sheth claimed one batter. Mosaddek Hossain produced a superb all-round display with a century followed by three wickets to help propel Bangladesh Under-19s to a 38-run win against England Under-19s. The home side suffered their second successive defeat after their 46-run loss to Pakistan on Tuesday. The visitors amassed 286 for 4, propped up by Mosaddek's unbeaten 110 off 113 balls as he struck nine fours and a couple of sixes. He also added 156 for the third wicket with opener Sadman Islam, who made 86 off 126 balls. Tom Barber was England's most successful bowler on the day, picking up two wickets. The home side's reply was going smoothly until Mosaddek's offspin caught them napping. He collected three wickets, including that of captain Ben Duckett who made 56. Haseeb Hameed top scored with 67 off 96 balls while Will Rhodes smashed three sixes in his 32, but it was not enough. Seamer Rifat Pradhan also took three wickets, though he was slightly expensive. Bangladesh take on Pakistan in the next match of the tri-series on Friday, at Market Harborough.
