Detonator Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 How can you say parents told their kids to stay away from this guy ? That was his first day in school, Do you think all of them came to drop off their kids at school on that day and they saw this guy and told their kids to stays away from him. Most probably some teacher did. well, that's just one of my guess. I agree with you, there is higher probability that the teachers telling this to the student. And it could well be a single teacher. If one teacher is involved, he/she should be fired immedietely (most probably it's a she, considering that mostly females teach for kids).
hhunaeh Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 A clip on untouchability. Kids are interviewed too uM85zVt6xCU
Brainfade Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 It cuts both ways. Not sure why we must take sides on these issues. Discrimination against Dalits has been prevalent for eons. Qquota-driven discrimination against the so-called "upper" castes commenced when the govt, in its infinite wisdom, instituted reservations and then went on to designate more and more social groups as "backward." They are both wrong. The only solution is economic upliftment without quotas and fear and corruption free law enforcement. And that seems like a pipedream. As one who has seen ground realities (I grew up in the 70s and 80s when there really was no virtual reality), it is easy to see that both sides are to blame for this socioeconomic tug-of-war.

Reservations based on economic criteria or no-quotas is an ignorant suggestion which is not practical in India.May seem like a fantasy idea in internet but are clear indication of those out of touch with reality .

Not what I was suggesting. Economic upliftment with no quotas of any sort. Is that realistic? Or has that ship sailed?
hhunaeh Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 If certain people, correct that 4 year old kids, are not allowed to avail of facilities at a level as basic as the one in the OP, how is any upliftment possible?
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 No what I was suggesting. Economic upliftment with no quotas of any sort. Is that realistic? Or has that ship sailed? According to the 2001 Census of India, scheduled castes and tribes comprise 16.2 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively, of India’s population, yet 47.3 percent of India’s rural poor are concentrated in these groups. So no its not realistic and India needs quotas and reservations if we want economic upliftment of those deprived for centuries.
Detonator Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 ^ If a census has time to identify each caste and tribe, and giving quotas to them, its pretty much realistic to provide reservations or better aid poor students based on economy. Just like the freebie schemes. The current reservation system is extremely unfair to poor people, especially if the belong to FC or BC. There are poor brahmins too. If there is reservation, then it should be for poor poeple of all communities, regardless of religion, caste or tribe. Not just poor SC or STs.

Care to explain how its ignorant? I m curious to know what's "realistic" :giggle:
Prakat Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 There are a lot of schemes for poor people per se irrespective of their caste identity. People should just stop asking for everything someone less fortunate "by birth" gets. This situation exists because people hold on so dearly to an outdated and prejudicial form of social identity. If Brahmans are the "highest caste" because their duties are most important then why do Brahman boys want to be engineers and doctors? Let the Dalits do it, for whom it would be a "step up" from their caste-assigned trade.

Yea Yea, the caste based reservations have made us a first world nation, you & your future generations should benefit at the expense of others for what possibly happened to your great great grandparents. Sounds very fair, balanced and pragmatic.

Clarke Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Yep right we oppressed you for centuries and we will continue to oppress u again for centuries without giving an equal chance.Thats very balanced fair and balanced I oppressed no one and demand that moochers who attended same schools, lived in similar conditions do not have extra benefits from the state by virtue of their last name. Too much to ask to give up ur free meal and work for it like the rest of us, pablo ?
adi B Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Yep right we oppressed you for centuries and we will continue to oppress u again for centuries without giving an equal chance.Thats very balanced fair and balanced not giving quotas = oppression?
hhunaeh Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Why talk about moochers and grandfathers in a thread about a 4 year old kid kicked out of a school because of his caste?Doesn't it seem out of place and inappropriate?

I m curious to know what's "realistic" :giggle: Do u know the process to get income certificate in Rural india? Its a joke to put it mildly. Fact is with reservation based on caste system atleast it more often reaches the deserving people (Becoz still 60 to 70% of Dalits are still BPL) .Whereas with the Economic Reservation System it will be the reverse. The creamy layer criteria for OBCs is the perfect example. The real problem with caste based reservation is people who got initially benifited and got uplifted getting benifit from the system again and again.
akshayxyz Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 complete idiots these parents...... how can you think of another human being as below you? :wall: all fingers are not same... there has to be some order... /s

So how many lower caste people in Rural India own lands and how many upper caste work in them for their living? And u dont need to be one of them to speak for them as Periyar said.
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 not giving quotas = oppression? To put it frankly yes.Denial of equal opportunity is oppresion
Clarke Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Similar conditions? So how lower caste people in India own lands and how many upper caste work in them for their living? I repeat, I am not a landowner exploiting you. Why do you & your kids deserve major privileges free of cost by virtue of your last name over me or my future generations ? Why can't you compete like the rest of us without demanding a free meal ?
