carnish
Those who keep on saying that he is playing for 200 tests ... Dream On ... India have crucial matches next year ... 3 tests vs South Africa, 2 vs New Zealand. That makes it 5 tests in a row. I am damn sure, if he plays one, he will play all five. And since he is not playing IPL anymore, may just call it quits then leaving us to find someone else against Anderson and Broad in England. Link to comment

But Who has the guts to say NO to Sachin ... I mean if he plays one test against South Africa, why the hell would he miss out on NZ tests which happen just one week after the tests against SA ?? Unless he is actually playing for his 200th test. Link to comment

CSK Fan
He had magical test average > 55 He squandered it And then in the same breath the same people say he is the one too worried about personal records and numbers :giggle: Link to comment

CSK Fan
^chasing 17k test runs' date='200 test record :giggle:[/quote'] Surely a veteran batsmen who has played test cricket for so long, will know that for a test batsman the average is more important than the number of matches played? Every batsman worth his salt is remembered mostly for his average This is some retarded logic to blame Sachin whatever way possible, pathetic attempt Also what is more pathetic is that the same guys, in the same breath, say that he is spoiling his personal legacy and personal average by playing longer. And that shows their neutrality and agenda, doesn't it? Link to comment

Crookbond
I can't understand how Tendulkar is playing for personal records - just makes little sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
vvvslaxman
One day retirement over. IPL retirement over. Next Test retirement. Such an illustrious career should not finish without any announcement like one dayer. Gilly announced before the series was over. So every ground he went had huge reception. It was all fun. Dravid, Laxman both deserved such distinction. Missed out. Don't want Tendulkar also go that way. Announcing retirement after the series is over. Link to comment

And I have no problems whatsoever with that. A great batsman SHOULD care about his records. That is what defines (not completely though) how you have performed in your career. If he is the greatest batsman of modern times as some claim, shouldn't his average be at the least several point above his contempporaries?? He really did not have anything to prove after the WC, had a fabulous record and could up gone out on a high. Link to comment
