If it has to be minority gov, aap should allow bjp to form one.

Sources in AAP told CNN-IBN that if the Congress is ready to back Jan Lokpal Bill it may consider joining hands with the Congress. A Congress source told IANS that all eight legislators of the party were ready to back AAP, which has been invited by Jung on Saturday to explore the possibility of forming a government. The letter to Jung read: "Indian National Congress is willing to offer unconditional outside support to AAP if they are ready to form the government." "We have come to know through media that after the refusal of BJP to form government in absence of adequate number, you have invited Arvind Kejriwal of AAP to form government," it added. The letter was signed by party general secretary Shakeel Ahmed and Delhi Congress chief JP Agarwal. All the eight Congress legislators on Thursday met party vice president Rahul Gandhi and expressed their desire to support AAP. The AAP finished with 28 seats in the 70-member assembly, just behind the Bharatiya Janata Party's 31, leaving Delhi with a hung house. They presented themselves as the alternative to the corrupt established parties. Before the election (and even after the results came out) they again and again said that they would never accept/give support of Cong because they were not like all the other parties in the country and were not hungry for power blah blah blah.... If they had not accepted the support of BJP/Cong then at least they could have gone into re-election and said that they promised they would never accept the support of Cong/BJP and they lived up to that promise even when both parties offered them support. But if now they accept the support of Cong then thats it for them.

But right now they don't realize how unprepared they are for being in power - ek baar power mein aaney do phir sab aatein daal ka bhaav pata chal jayega inko. Besides, if they do take the support of Cong (even if its outside support with no Cong MLA being a minister), it will give the BJP ample ammunition to label AAP alongside Cong in Lok Sabha elections.

Governing isn't really that hard. There are plenty of support structures with bureaucrats doing the grunt work and providing the knowledge of how the system works. The government only has to provide the vision. AAP may make rookie political mistakes on the way, but i don't think they will misgovern day-to-day affairs of the state. The main challenge is to rid the state of the corruption which is far harder to achieve. Since it has been the key election agenda of the party formation. The alliance with Congress will hurt their political image badly.

We have seen in case of many leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Omar Abdullah etc where they were inexperienced and thus made a lot of big mistakes. In case of AAP I think these mistakes will be more than in case of conventional politicians and they will be magnified even more because of the extremely high expectation and the unrealistic things which they promised (but most probably will not be able to deliver) before the elections. And as you said, the biggest problem for them will be the damage to their image because of association with Cong - that is something that will result in loss of support from voters who voted for AAP/are planning to vote for AAP because they are tired of the established parties.

gaurav92 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 AAP in a dilemma whether to form govt. or not. If they go for re-elections, BJP will win with clear majority and AAP will lose its stand. If the form govt. now, they will lose their own identity as an anti-corrupt party.
