beetle Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I do think these changes in words make a difference. For starts "Izzat lutna,Abroo lutna, izzat taar taar ho jana " if used for rape victims should be banned and punishable. The law says the name of the victims should not be revealed. Similar law should be used for banning these from media, films tv. Only in our country does a victim loose her izzat.Shameful!

Exactly, what these so-called journalists do not seem to realize is that by indulging dangerous and counter-productive ‘mythification’ (or ‘deification’) of a women’s virginity and her private parts, they are pouring fuel on fire by egging more crazed men to go out there and assault more women.
coffee_rules Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I don' think Aamir Khan or Hirani would have made fun of the word 'balatkar' in 3 idiots if it was released in these days post-Nirbhaya.
veer Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I don' think Aamir Khan or Hirani would have made fun of the word 'balatkar' in 3 idiots if it was released in these days post-Nirbhaya. I was actually surprised to hear 'Balatkar' and 'Stan' words used in the film so easily..

Crookbond Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 No aspect of his past excuses the horrendous crime that Siraj has allegedly committed, and nothing he can do in his future will return to the girl who he raped what she has lost, but that is not a reason to turn the poverty and squalor that all the young men have lived with since childhood into a B-movie script explaining their actions. Siraj and his brothers and many, many more men and women like them, grew up in a world harsher than most of us can imagine. But it’s easy (and it panders to the prurience of the reader) for us to paint them as sex addicts, whose “days began at night”, whatever that means. http://www.livemint.com/Leisure/r0i3KBMiXfUx5H8VChVpCP/Lounge-Opinion-Why-its-dangerous-to-dehumanize-the-men-wh.html
veer Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 That is the sad reality of the rape victims. God knows how many don't even dare to report such savagery because of what happens to rape victims after reporting. The way the police deals with the victim...the hospital staff, the lawyers, the family ,the neighbors......that is what makes us a sick rotting country. Unfortunately, agree or not but we are part of the problem.. Police and hospital staff live among us.. they build their mind set from society that we are part of.. Lot of things gotta change... Right now it surely stinks.
Crookbond Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Four found guilty of gang-rapes at Shakti Mills, one involving photo-journalist http://www.ndtv.com/article/cities/four-found-guilty-of-gang-rapes-at-shakti-mills-one-involving-photo-journalist-497657
CSK Fan Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 As a first in India, 3 of the rapist, who were repeat offenders, are sentenced to death by the lower court. First time that someone has been sentenced to death without a death being involved.Hope this acts as a deterrent. However, there is also a risk now that rapists might kill their victims to get away
achilles Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 These 3 are REPEAT Offenders. And they're going to appeal against this. Tells you everything you need to know about
