saneindian Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Will be on his first tour to SA, so I will keep my expectations in check. But with him around, I wouldn't mind seeing green pitches in SA. And for those writing Umesh off, don't judge his test bowling based on how he's doing in ODIs. Was awesome vs England in the last test he played and his injury was the reason we lost the series.
saneindian Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Well BK is both economical and runs through line ups so don't know what you are complaining about In ODIs so far, remains a WIP in tests.
CSK Fan Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 In ODIs so far' date=' remains a WIP in tests.[/quote'] Yes, but everyone's favorite Yadav hasn't set the world on fire in tests either
SLICKR392 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 In ODIs so far' date=' remains a WIP in tests.[/quote'] Was more than handy on those dry wickets during the Aussie series. He is also a decent bat in Test.
saneindian Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Yes' date=' but everyone's favorite Yadav hasn't set the world on fire in tests either[/quote'] Umesh at least has a couple of match winning spells in Tests, Bhuvi yet to do so. On him being everyone's favorite, I see only Lord saying he thinks Umesh will do better than Bhuvi in SA P.S. Stand corrected. Checked the stats, Even Bhuvi bowled a couple of very good spells in his debut test series.
Gunner Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Can't wait to watch Yadav and Bhuvi bowl on a green saffer mamba. Have high hopes from these two and inshallah they'll deliver what's been eluding India since 2006 - a Test Series victory in South Africa.
saneindian Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Was more than handy on those dry wickets during the Aussie series. He is also a decent bat in Test. Of course. Bhuvi will get better at tests as he gets more experienced like he' done in ODIs.
Lord Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Umesh at least has a couple of match winning spells in Tests, Bhuvi yet to do so. On him being everyone's favorite, I see only Lord saying he thinks Umesh will do better than Bhuvi in SA that doesn't mean I don't rate BK.Just think Yadav will do better in those conditions
Jersey #10 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Yadav if fit will do wonders. Bhuvi is here to stay like Zak did for years. He's the new Lead for team India. Sreenath to Zak to bhuvi...
SLICKR392 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Yadav if fit will do wonders. Bhuvi is here to stay like Zak did for years. He's the new Lead for team India. Sreenath to Zak to Ishant... Fixed. :nice:
adi B Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 yadav will be the trump card,he has done well so far in test matches
Jersey #10 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 What amazes me is that Bhuvi could run in and bowl the 8th consecutive over in the same spell just as well as he bowled the 1st one. Most bowlers prefer between 3-5 overs per spell but not Bhuvi. He can bowl all 10 overs in one spell with the same conviction in each of his overs. He's gotta be extremely dedicated and focused.
cowboysfan Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 It is not just about being economical' date=' a consistent bowler will hit right areas more often than others so then we will have more chances for batsmen to make mistakes. Consistent does not mean he wont take wickets. Consistency brings wickets especially on helpful tracks where you dont need to do too many things.[/quote'] Agree with you 100%,i have a feeling we will see extremely green wickets and Yadav spraying it around would be disastrous in these low scoring games.
rahulrulezz Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 This hate for Yadav irritates me to no end. The guy is our genuine solution for a power pace bowler. No wonder, we guys have to bear VKumars, Mithoons and army of trundlers. We deserve it. On topic, Bhuvi along with Yadav can take us to heights. Hats off to his attitude.
CG Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Test are diff from odis.Bhuvi looked ordinary in tests against a weak aus batting line up in india. In SA He will be an asset against left-handers as without a leftarmer we need a guy who bowls well to smith. But SA Has mainly right handers .India does not have any standout bowlers and would do well to work as a team rather than focus on individuals.
CG Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Yes' date=' but everyone's favorite Yadav hasn't set the world on fire in tests either[/quote'] By indian standards he has set the world on blaze in tests.
CG Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 but Bhuvi is mainly inswing bowler.Yadav OTOH is an outswing bowler who I think have better chance of succeeding in Test cricket.also hes faster too ofcourse. Insiwng is as deadly on helpful pitches as the ball will hold it line form often than not and batsman ail have to play it thinking its an in swinger.
Trichromatic Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Yes' date=' but everyone's favorite Yadav hasn't set the world on fire in tests either[/quote'] How many Indian pacers had better than him in first 9 tests? Zak 22 wickets at avg of 43 and SR of 76. Kapil 24 wickets at 41 and SR of 68 Srinath 25 wickets at 39 and SR of 92 Pathan 32 wickets at avg of 30 and SR of 61 Sreesanth 40 wickets at avg of 27 and SR of 48 Ishant 23 wickets at 36 and SR of 64
