Old guy Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Why did they downgrade the pixels from 41 mp (1020) to 20 mp? Also 3x zoom for 1020 and 2x zoom for 1520. If you are looking purely for camera 1020 is a better option by the look of it. Everything else 1520 simply trump 1020. too big sensor to fit in mainstream phone . i am patiently waiting for lumia 929 now it will be 5 inch phone with everything similar to 1520.. release it already microsoft :hitler: it might be perfect for my mom :P

It is just one aspect of a good quality image. what nokia does is awesome they have huge sensor and takes 40 megapixel raw images and with shrinks it to 5 mega pixel image by processing i dont know calculations but 4-5 pixels make one pixel ..so end result is very awesome photo almost as good as point and shoot camera . now if you want to zoom in it will use raw image and crop it again with same process and you would have lots of details even when zoomed in (this is where 41 mega pixels comes in play )

It's true for most things in nature as well, for ex - better talent doesn't mean better player. no bigger sensor can always take better pictures if everything else is same and same thing is happening here. while i agree more pixel does not mean better but in this case sensor is so much out of class of other phones there is just no comparison and they actually use these pixel with brain in the end you get 5 mega pixel shot which is very very good in quality and magic happens when you zoom into it and you very little detail. now they can use same sensor and just use 12 mega pixel camera but in the end they are doing the same thing but combining pixels. please check how pure view camera works its actually very interesting.. in the end it does what apple and htc was doing but just by combining pixels instead of reducing pixels so with this you do not get problem of bad low light performance infact it out classes every phone very easily even in low light . if taking photos is your main use of phone look no further then this phone and now its little brother is here using same technology but with smaller sensor and lower pixels .

In fact, there is no option for contents at all. You can't see call duration of older calls. You can't send many files at one via bluetooth. If you are just browsing through some file and want to transfer the file, you'll have to go to setting or some apps, turn on bluetooth and then connect to device, return back to file and then transfer it. You can't make a video call without skype. You can't know which number did you dialled in case you have two numbers for same contact. You don't have a file manager.

I havent noticed this much. :(( :(( @cabby - netbanking can be done in browsers in both android and windows. dont see a point of having a saperate app.

Even 20 mph is very good if you use 5 mp images as you get oversampling of 20 mp into 5 mp. 41 mph makes it a bit heavy and bumpy.

A same Exmore-R sensor made by Sony is used in both several phones like S4, Xperia Z, ZR, Oppo, etc, but S4 produces better pictures.

Note - I haven't said the 1520 camera is bad or good. Just making a more general - "mine is bigger than yours" obsession for specifications which people can't seem to get hold of.

You are talking about low quality point to shoot cameras with small sensors. But Nokia 1020 has a large sensor. If you are into cropping big images you will have more room to work with. more pixels are always better for camera with smiliar lens size. In this case Nokia ibeat out all the others in both areas. So they are far superior.

So they are far superior. best part they dont even just concentrate on pixels they use it to oversample so they combine 4 small pixel to create one large one :winky: so yo uare getting best of both worlds you are getting sharpness of 41 megapixel with all the advantages of having larger pixels on same sensor.. just check low light performance of this camera :bow: ...only criticism you can have for more piels is that individual pixels gets small and they take in less light so they are bad in low light but that is not true with this guy which is by far the best camera in low light nothing else comes close to this !
