1 - Lorgat has done enough as ICC head to threaten BCCI's financial interests 2 - Off the field
1. explain 2. off the field can easily become on the field. Its about setting boundaries. Without any of those the distinction between on and off the field will be blurred. Its a bit like Germany in WW2. People thought the Germans would stop after invading Poland (when England and France did nothing). But they never did. Now i am not suggesting BCCI is Germany. But boundaries are key.

1 - IPL, DRS etc. are some issues in the media. There may be others behind closed doors - and I suspect this is the issue. 2 - As long is it is off the field, it is good. Since the matter is money, it is very difficult to sort it on field

1. not seen him made any controversial comments on the DRS and IPL with regards to india. certainly less than Malcolm Speed. Yes he pushed for DRS, but thats what most of the members believed in at the time. Its the same with the Woolf report. Even the ECB dismissed that outright. So it was hardly as if BCCI was the only candidate targeted in that. 2. Again , off field soon becomes on field. Its just human nature. it raises a question, just what do the posters want the ICC ceo to do? Tow the official BCCI line and never oppose their interests? Even Dave Richardson the current CEO is pro DRS.

It is not being coward, it is just using the upper hand to your advantage in business. If CSA want to get financial gain due to BCCI then it should also understand it has obligations towards it. CSA clearly overplayed their hand and time will only tell if it has any long term ramifications for BCCI. Lorgat is sly fox, he always was playing politics as ICC ceo.
I think most fans are not pissed at BCCI for raising objection to Lorgats appointment rather the way they've shown it. This isn't some hastily arranged series for revenue generation, it is part of the FTP. BCCI have an obligation to send India to SA. So the point of financial gain is moot. BCCI has a lot of ways to to show CSA its power, though cricket shouldn't be one of them.

1. explain
Commissioning of the Woolf report should be enough reason for BCCI to bury Lorgat for good. Promoting half baked, unproven DRS and doing his best to pay for it with ICC (which in turn means mostly BCCI's money)

Haroon Logart loathes the BCCI. Having him as the head of CSA would have made the BCCI top brass' job more difficult having to deal with him regarding major ICC issues. I can see why the BCCI tried arm twisting the CSA into dropping him from consideration for their top job. That said, carry it forward by cancelling/curtailing the SA series is absurd.

If it is the FTP, you have to follow it. CSA should hire their best which turned out to be Haroon. The BCCI needs to either explain why CSA needs to apologize or not try to control everything. You do wonder if we will get a divide in cricket where Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and England with Ireland, Scotland and even USA will have their own board. While India has Windies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and B'desh. It wouldn't happen but still CSA have the right to hire anyone without meddling from other boards. All in all the ICC needs some balls to tell the BCCI to follow the FTP and stop trying to interfere but they won't.

BCCI hasnt agreed to the FTP..

The FTP was made 3 years ago. Surely back then they could have asked for a change. The fact of the matter is that people hate the BCCI for their tactics in everything. What do they want Lorgat to apologize for? That's something they could have stated. Also being head of the ICC is different from being the head of the CSA. It is really a shame that India wouldn't get the tour South Africa if everything goes as it stands. I mean I would love to see Pujara and Kohli batting against Steyn, Philander and Morkal. They (SA) and the Indian public/players have done nothing wrong and the BCCI by their own agenda is going to ruin a game in a country that has been playing it for 100 years+ for something they have no right to have a say in. Sad state that the game is in with money talking. The people that I know that aren't Indian have no problem with the BCCI having the most power but it's how they use it.

I mean it is how it is. BCCI have all the power but that's not the problem. The problem is how they are using it. Associates hate the BCCI because it apparently leads to the ICC not focusing on them (Apparently, I don't know someone said that). Other countries hate them but suck up to them. I just wish the BCCI would use their power for the betterment of the game rather than milking it and wanting it their way. That's my opinion.

1 - He refused to give IPL a window. DRS was more back door talks - of course I'm taking educated guesses because we aren't going to have formal documented proof. Dalmiya asking Lorgat to "apologize" seems to be more than the DRS, IPL. There's something which is not out in the media as yet and will most likely not be. 2 - Unless there is evidence of that, it should be fine. For now, it hasn't become on field.

Please post what the current FTP regulations are and the part where BCCI is flouting them. BCCI is not asking CSA to apologize but Lorgat to do so - subtle but important difference.

1. I dont think the bcci wanted a window. Why would you? There are some de facto standards and some de jure standards. IPL is the defacto standard. Dalmiya wanting Lorgat to say sorry was because Lorgat moved the India-England ODI match out of Eden Gardens due to lack of completion of the stadium

FTP as it is presently construed and also historically is just a sham, it just caters the needs only strong boards in my opinion. ECB and ACB were the main benefactors of FTP and to some extent they still are as they only have fixed home/summer schedule and every other team has its schedule worked around these two teams. Aussie summer coincides with India's best weather for cricket and yet it is always India which needs to forgo its home season to tour there. Proteas recently said no to Aussies for having boxing day test match between two teams as they wanted their own boxing day tradition and that lead to a truncated series between those two teams. India tours both England and Australia again before Pakistan even though Pakistan toured those two countries in 2010 and India in 2010-11 and only reason why that is happening with blessings of FTP, is economical as ECB and ACB generate more revenue when Indians tour them as opposed to Pakistan. So using FTP as crutch to put blame on BCCI is weak in my view. FTP has always been manipulated according the needs of strong boards. This nonsense that BCCI is the only board which is after money and is killing tests is not true either, have you seen recent 7 match ODI series that too after full Ashes. CSA in order to cash in big time on Indian TV money had 7 match odi series , 2 t20s and just 3 tests matches. Every board and ICC are only after money which is fine but this hypocrisy of blaming BCCI only as if they are the only ones after money is bit too much to take.

They most definitely did - this would allow the BCCI to ensure all countries are available for the IPL and avoid friction with boards like the ECB. I had a chance to speak with Lalit Modi (2010) during a CLT20 game and he said to me that they kept asking for the window but the ICC denied it. Therefore, (said Modi) they decided to go ahead anyway and muscle people with IPL's financial clout (which has since eventually happened anyway). That can be one theory but will be surprised if that is the only thing. Since you mention that up - did Lorgat also pursue other means to put pressure on BCCI for the 2011 WC? Most likely so.

BCCI would not want an official IPL window. It is not in BCCI's best interest. Benefits bring obligations and BCCI would have had to reciprocate by doing things like decreasing the quota player count in the IPL, or wrapping it up faster, or even worse (from its perspective) introduce DRS in the IPL. Now they can do anything they want, and a window is available for all practical purposes.
