But what's the use if he performs the way he does ! I've just checked Ishant's year-by-year record and he has actually done very well this year. I am very surprised. He has 30 wickets at 26.06 with economy of 5.49 and SR of 28.4. Would certainly not be fair to drop him with those performances. I just wonder why he looks so terrible, so often!

We all know the trundlers will just get lined up and smoked like today. So we is Yadav not in team, to learn and develop. Its madness, like the othe options are really good and doing well. He cant do any worse, in fact he could do a lot better and also has scope to massivley improve. Again look at pre CT against aussies when blew them away. Instead message is clear to bowl slower and just keep it tight. You dont get a MJ with that philisophy, who gave match winning performance today bowling 95 mph. Yadav bowls 90 mph and is not in team, bonkers. SCOPE TO IMPROVE!!!

Ishant most probably has performed exceptionally in a couple of less important matches and has let the team down whenever he had been in any pressure situation. When he is under pressure and fails, well.... he really fails.

express bowling Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 We need to encourage the really fast men. There can be no two ways about it. They should be encouraged to bowl well at high pace. We seem to give them the message, mostly indirectly, that they should bowl well and cut down on pace if they have to. In the rare cases when they are toldd to bowl quick, bowling objectively is not the aim. This is sad.

Yadav could be like Johnson is now(he was also wayward but has been backed and handled well). We need to back him and manage him properly. 10 overs today would have been great for him on this decent track. Instead axed, bowling 25 overs slogging it out in domestic cricket. Do not be suprised next time you see him if slowed down and heading trundler way!!

Another point .....Today, Faulkner and McKay looked far more potent when combined with the super fast Johnson than they did in the last match. Similarly, BK normally bowls better with Umesh bowling quick and pushing the batsmen on the back foot. We have a bowler who can bowl 138 to 148 k consistently and should not waste him.

Apparently cos spray it and its no good, We dont want to be obbsessed with speed like pakis (even though all other countries are also obssessed with fast bowlers). While trundlers go games and games playing pants and never dropped and we alll praise them Pathetic We desreve the trundlers for our pants mentality

What should we prioritize more, producing intelligent bowlers, capable of taking wickets anywhere in the world, or bowlers who can bowl phaast? Ideally, we would want a mixture of both.....but do we have the resources in our bowling department to produce intelligent fast bowlers capable of taking wickets anywhere in the world? Do we have the resources to produce intelligent fast bowlers capable of taking wickets anywhere in the world for a significant period of time (10+ years)? If yes, where are they? If no, then why do we expect to have such bowlers?

You are right. You make my point. We have no one else apart from Yadav who is genuinley quick. Yet he is not in team and being allowed to develop. Instead he has bowled 25 overs in domestic cricket to grind him in to the ground. The one genuine quick is not in team. Bonkers Meanwhile trundlers like vinnay are perserved with as if they will do something in 2015 world cup!!
