From what i heard when in mumbai among the cricketing circles was that Rahane paid Amre $10,000 for a months personal training. Uttappa too i do believe used Amre as a coach for a brief period. What works in Rahane's favour that he lives close by to Amre. There are rumours that Amre and MCA are keen to start a batting academy in Dadoji Kondev stadium in Thane. Probably about time as well. The strength of mumbai has shifted from Dadar and Shivaji park to the eastern suburbs and Dombivalli/Kalyan.

Hasn't grabbed his chance yet with scores of 7, 36, 3, 3 - Very poor returns Hasn't looked out of form yet hasn't been able to get a bigger score to cement his place. He is a good player and will eventually perform well for us, just needs a bit of surety in the side. He should be told, we are not going to hang a sword if you don't perform. Just play your game naturally. Right now, he is taking too much pressure of getting dropped and hence not performing to his potential.

Rahane did well in England. And its just the start, he will do well eventually, he is too good a player to no play that well. If Rohit can be persisted with, remember even Rohit had 25ish average after 60-70 ODIs, still he got chances. So its fair to give Rahane the chances he deserves. Uthappa should also be given chances provided he does well in domestic circuit. Now that he has done well, he should be roped in the squad !

If Rohit is the target we have in mind for Rahane then we may shelve the experiment right now. Rahane is good in longer format and not odis. Averaging 24 after 21 odis when you have batted at the top of the order means you haven't cut it and need to perform in domestic cricket. It's time to give someone else a go coz Rahane had a decent shot.

He lacks everything for ODIs, cannot rotate the strike and cannot hit big.

Switchblade Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 In his defense he has not been given a consistent run played in England in 2011 then in India against them got dropped and after that played only 1 game against Srilanka again he was dropped again got one game against Pakistan got dropped played 3 games again so he was never given a consistent run.Had he been given the amount of chances that Rohit was given things might have been different.

I know what people mean that he hasn't gotten consistent run, but no one barring Rohit was given consistent run few years ago when all made debut. It was hard to make debut as a batsman in India ODI side and cemt your place. You got to remember we had gambhir, sehwag, tendulkar Yuvraj, Kohli, Raina all doing good with Dhoni. So Rahane got his chance but he didn't take it. I don't know if he will get the last game, he doesn't really have any weakness to short ball, just that he kept giving his wicket away under pressure, finding fielders etc on the boundary. In Odi's, there are lot of players waiting, you have to take chances. Rahane hasn't taken unfortunately.

TNAmarkFrmIndia Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Not sure why they picked Rahane for ODIs. He's not necessarily a standout in even domestic one-dayers. Rahane at best should be a backup opener but he doesn't have the game to play at No. 4. Good Test player but not exactly ODI material, especially when the top 3 batting positions are already taken.
