At the start of the 15th over I was like " wtf , these Windies players are once again letting an easy entry for Pakistanis into the semis " then came two sixes of Gul, followed by 2 more against Ajmal in the next over. 4 Sixes in such a short span of time changed the whole match situation. Also very well supported by Sammy at the other end , his 97 M Six against Ajmal was class.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 India have played positive cricket Seeing all the recent batting failures and failures to rejuvenate innings in this tourney, teams like England, Australia, New Zealand and pakistan who play a lot more t20 cricket than we do have been exposed. And none are in the semis. We are. Why? Because each indian team member has contributed and stuck to their strengths. We've attacked and been positive overall - despite the odd tuk tuk in the middle of the innings by yuvraj I've said it before but I feel this team including members not in the t20 squad right now, form a great team structure that can dominate all formats. We just need to be aggressive and have each player do their job. India have definitely played good cricket and have easily beaten all teams so far. We've shown we can adjust on slow, low tracks. We can take on mystery spinners and santokies. We have also bowled quite well and not conceded more than 140 so far *touchwood*, we've beaten sloggers, monstrous hitters, t20 specialists and finished the job off with the tail. We've defended a score against a lineup that on paper, looked the favourites. Good luck to India against south africa and hopefully in the final - keep playing positive! If india played like this, they wouldn't have got their @sses whooped in odis by a nz side that got out for 60 and lost to bangladesh successively :nervous:

This is also why we must persist with Rahane. Somebody who can get us off to stable starts. Say 36/0-42/0 in the first 6. Before our hitters of Raina, Yuvraj and MSD get us to 160 odd. The types of pitches remaining in the WC 150-160 is a defendable score. I have noticed that the ball goes swing in the first 4-5 overs. WI today i felt rotated the strike a lot more than they did v India. Yes Sammy and Bravo did hit out, but before that in the partnership with Samuels and Simmons they did look to rotate the strike.

Definitely with ya on the point about rahane, we can always double our score in the final 10 overs so getting to a good start is important and rahane can provide that with rohit/dhawan

A good No. 3 alone won't make Pakistan a better batting side.

If I am not wrong he was the highest wicket taker in last years IPL. :dontknow: He’s got reasonable traits as a bowler (can touch 140 kph occasionally, quicker than you think he is; can bowl the occasional mean Yorker). However, he’s actually not that great a T20 bowler (experiments too much and bowls too many bad balls). Part of the reason why ended up one of the leading wicket takers in the previous edition of IPL was because he almost always tends to bowl the full quota of 4 overs for CSK.

IE as an opening partnership I think Kohli has been in inside the first few overs barring the first game v Pakistan. A number 3 is like a playmaker is in football. He dictates the pace of the innings. Sets things up. You add Kohli to that Pakistan side and IMO he will set Pakistan up in a chase where their lower order hitters like Afrdi will be able to cash in.

India wouldn't play the same way if they were chasing a bigger score. They play according to the target. They played safe in those 3 chases because the asking rate didn't require them to take risks. They took the right approach in those 3 games IMO.
