He averages 63 and has economy of 5.63 in 8 ODIs against them. He has an average of 24 against England, 21 against New Zealand with economy around 4.9, 26 against Sri Lanka with economy around 4.5. His average is higher at 43 against WI and 36 against Pak but economy is still good around 4.5. Overall good figures on flat tracks. He seems to struggle mostly against Aussies who seem to have a good measure of his variations, most likely because they have played a lot against him in IPL.

ashwin has the potential to be a good test bowler because there is not much fear of getting smacked,he can flight the bowl well with close in fielders so he becomes an attacking option naturally ..in odis and t20s,thats not the case,he becomes too defensive and tries unnecessary variations which are uncalled for..the fear of getting smacked plays too much on his mind.. he needs to change his mindset and see himself as an attacking option in all 3 formats

He reacts much sooner to onslaughts. Typically when a spinner gets around they try to bowl as fast as possible. Seen that with Murali for number of years. Since Ashwin doesn't have a quicker one he does some silly variation and ends up looking even worse. Another thing is he gets too leg sidish fear of giving sighters to batsmen. That is also very wrong.

Well Jadeja also plays IPL.. Ashwin has just looked completely out of frame. He isn't as fit or as prepared as he was during the Australian tests.
Jadeja doesn't rely on variations. His strength is accuracy and he bowls a tight line and length and gets through his overs quickly. If he manages to turn the ball, he becomes even more effective. He is very different from Ashwin.

Its the way Dhoni handles him which is probably also the issue. Many times in this series in the ODIs he has come on to bowl in over 28 or so. I think that introduction is a bit too late. The problem is that Bhuvi is bowling the bulk of his quota in the first 20 overs. Which means Ash is displaced from a position he usually is used to bowl. I would like to see MS introduce Ashwin from the 15th over. See how it goes from there. Its fair to say i will take Bhuvi bowling in the death overs a lot more compared to other bowlers. I think India cannot afford to protect Bhuvi and bowl him out within the first 10. I think the final 10-15 overs must be a combo of Sir/Bhuvi mostly.

He is lacking control, bowling too many half volleys and half trackers. You can be excused if you are bowling right line and length and still being hit but there is no excuse for bad bowling.
