I think Kohli has been sort of taking away the limelight away from these two too. Off course, Kohli is being recognized deservingly, but our Openers have done really well. Good to see some solid play from Rohit Sharma finally and the Kick @ss attitude Sehwagesque stuff from Dhawan. Both seem to have laid the platform in both the big chase. They more they bat togther, the better as they can potentially become our opening pair in world cup 2015. More power to both.

Not once have we missed the Sehwag-Gauti duo ever since these two started opening. Did well in England , then in WI and now at home as well. Phenomenal record as an opening pair so far. Lots of 100+ partnerships, some 50+ as well. Both doing well individually. Also IMO Rohit has silently booked himself a Test debut vs WI in the 1st test. Cant see how he can be ignored now.

Well it's too early to say but Sehwag-Gambhir had their biggest success in test cricket. Both Gambhir and Tendulkar along with Sehwag kept switching between themselves as our opening pair, so we never really got used to Sehwag-Gambhir much in ODI'S. It was their brilliant run in test matches which made them a solid opening pair. I hope these guys come good for a while. We need them.

With top 3 of Dhawan, Rohit and Kohli we really have a good shot at 2015 world cup. The sooner the selectors realize Pujara is a better option than playing both Raina/Yuvi together the better. Only one of them can play and that at 6, Dhoni should move to 5.

That has always been the case with Rahane and Rohit. Fails 5 times in a row in SL and still gets picked and this Rahane fails in 2, gets dropped.

I mean against Pak and England. He failed to score in 2 out 3 games where as Rohit failed in SL, Pak series and the last ODI against England. He basically scored in 1 match out of 10.

Not Rohit!! If it wasn't for late hitting' date=' he was playing at a strike rate of 70... Have to give it to Dhawan for absorbing all the pressure and keeping run-rate on check[/quote'] Come on man. You got to give credit to Rohit now. I mean the guy after been so inconsistent, has really comeback strong. I hope he continues like this. It's not easy to form hundred run p'ships every game. Just look at pakistani team, they are struggling to find an opener from last 10 years ever since Saeed Anwar left. Not an easy ask. He is doing his job there. Shikhar has been scoring and he is giving him strike most of the time. You don't need two openers to go bezerk all the time. Rohit is finally playing good cricket. We need to give it to him.

In the present scenario, yes harsh but will be sensible. Rahane will however be in the Test squad ( should be released to play for Mumbai rather than being on bench) and then will get his chance vs SA. Ideally both should play but just a matter of 2 tests. Rohit has done every thing right in the laast 8-9 months - runs in domestic cricket, IPL, CT, vs WI, in Zim, for India A, CLT20 and now this series, that is runs across all formats. Will edge ahead of Rahane for WI imo.

Rohit has runs in int'l cricket which will count for him. And obviously the bias of being a talent. Dont forget the Rhiti connection

Dhoni summed up Rohit's innings perfectly, he struggled but unlike previously where he usually threw his wicket away he waited it out till he got into his zone and ended up with a decent strike rate actually..
