Both are genuine match winners n never get kudos from fans. Always on the receiving end of stick from fans cuz they dont play selfish slow innings in last 10 overs. Both players opt for the risk shots and don't leave the hard work of picking up run rate on their partners. If i have to choose one, being an Indian I wud choose Raina

Dont know about akmal but Raina (yes fans are critical of his shortcomings) is fairly likable and cheered guy. Also akmal might appear a better batsman than Raina but thats only because Akmal is surrounded by the likes of afridi's, Shehzad's, umar amins etc

Unfair to compare Umar with Raina since he is far better player in any format. Raina can't even compete with Umar in ODIs despite having the luxury of playing up the order , on roads at home and still averages less than Akmal. In tests, the comparison is even bleak as Raina has shown he is not good enough to survive in real format. Umar Akmal on the other hand did proved he is good enough to play test cricket by averaging almost 40 with limited opportunities he got.

Bullshit. Pakistani players boost their averages by playing against likes of Ireland/Zimbabwe (and still manage to lose matches against them). Akmal's true avg (top 8) is slightly greater than Raina's but I'd still take Raina for his clutch skills in pressure situations. Raina is a very good batsman. Yes, compared to Kohli, Rohit, Dhawan, Dhoni, Yuvi he's the worst but it really speaks volumes when India's worst young batsman is better than Pakistan's best.

Theres a remote possiblity that Umar Akmal could be a better batsman than Suresh Raina, but if i am the captain i will prefer having Suresh Raina over Umar Akmal in my team anytime anyday just for the sheer presence and energy raina brings on to the field, tell you what Umar Akmal cant do what Raina can, he will not chip in with 40's or 50's in crunch situations ( World Cup Quarters finals & Semi Finals), he will not cover my aaa$ if my trundlers are having a horrid day on the field by bowling 4 or 5 cheap overs, he will not take a brilliant catch or affect a brilliant run out under pressure, So basically Raina is all over Umar Akmal just for holding the nerves in INTERNATIONAL cricket, Umar Akmal belongs to Gali Cricket, i bet even Rahane will outshine him if given an opportunity.
