How Many of us would have picked Umesh Yadav ahead of Shammi in the 11

I totally agree with Express bowling and Rkt...... Why are we not Indian Selectors..

Vishalvirbhai, I don't think any other country , apart from India, would have missed the chance of playing two wicket taking as well as fast bowlers, like Umesh and Shami, together in a test. Good fast bowlers hunt in pairs and what a pair this can be.

If Dhoni supports Shammi Umesh Well - who knows We defeat africa in africa......as spinners won't get any thing there And pitches wud be made for steyn n team.... I do believe Ishant cud also suceed there bcos of his bounce But the Main weapons are Umesh shammi BK n I wud wanna Aaron Or a left arm fast bowler Zak or Suyal in.... Umsh shammi bK aaron or Zak if fit n ishant wud go Even Ishant wud Redeem himself there......as bouncy pitches wud make Him n morne morkel deadly I am not sure if varun wud be fit and i believe zak is past his prime ....Varun shud be picked if he back at his best and I believe if indian selectors Pick the best 5 pacers that india has we r going to Win for sure

The only problem with playing both Umesh and Shami is Umesh can be a bit wayward with his line and length. If he doesnt get it right, there wont be enough pressure put on the openers or other batsmen so that the other bowler can get wickets. Unlike Bhuvi who kept it tight from the other end in the last game and built up pressure. In test matches, you need bowlers to complement each other. Like how Ojha does a supporting role when Ashwin tries to take wickets.

But Umesh takes wickets. He averages 27 in 5 tests at home taking 18 wickets. Shami wont take that many wickets every day and at that time we will need another wicket taking bowler. Our spinners too are not really strike bowlers right now without Jaddu.

Yeah but I could see how Bhuvi could be preferred over him. He bowls well with the new ball and also bowls a good line and length and keeps a lid on the scoring, so that other bowler could attack. Umesh doesnt do this as well and he is also coming back from a gap.

Dhoni does not like to make any changes to the team that played the last match. If it was up to only him, we would have the same team that played in Dhoni's first captaincy match. :cantstop: So, I think BK will play the next test.

But wouldn't that mean tinkering with a newbie who has just found success? Rotation policy works with well-established players, not with noobs who are just finding their feet in international cricket. Shami is just one Test away from bowling against the No.1 Test team in the world, who have a bunch of very capable and experienced batsmen who play the best bowling outfit in the world at nets every day. He needs all the real-life experience he can get.

Yes, you are right, but that was perhaps to check out whether to take Aaron or MiThun to Australia. No such experiments needed this time, plus that Test was a dead rubber while this one is not.
