Kiran More, who first saw Munaf bowl and got him sent to MRF pace academy for further development, also the selector during whose tenure Munaf made his debut , says Munaf lost his pace and started to focus on line and length after the injury in SA in 2006. I remember before he was picked for the test against England at home, he played a warm up game against them and impressed in that game. He was pretty quick and was really hungry that time to do well. Just a trend which continues. When any new player comes in the side, he is in his best form, and later he throws it away. Munaf though wasn't that bad compared to some of others.

ishant is bad example as even he until recently did not play that many odis but all the other bowlers fit this and i hope dhoni manages them well now even n matches they play a fast bowler should not be bowled for 7 overs on trot (like bhuvan ) unless he is in some exceptional rhythm

That is a reason why S.A are not worldbeaters in LOI's-T20 WC and WC,steyn just doesnt have the same amount of mometum when he plays these tournaments. Also unfortunately,SA doesnt have a huge pool of backups like Aus/Eng either

all the back ups of australia turned out to be overrated in latest ashes and england back ups ? name a few? only difference is bud australians and england hype up their cricketers while south africa end up on reciving end of headlines like dale steyn is pattinson of south african attack

This. People are coming with reasons like Steyn didn't play much t20 is all bull. Steyn is just better bowler. Period. He kept playing for Bangalore when he was part of them for few years and did play every world t20 tournament. He's just missed one of or 2 match 2020 series whenever South Africa is playing with someone. Ishant and many Indian bowlers have continued to be poor at working their skills up. Just been a trend for Indian bowlers.

they did not rotate him..they just asked him to play tests over do or not it worked and he developed into ATG and now he is reason they are only team in world who can play well away from home :cantstop: matter of priority really.. in world cup steyn did not choked the batting did steyn actually won south africa the match against india on patta ..and now morkel is developing into world class odi bowler and tsotsobe is fine too for odis

Munaf had a useless runup, non efficient non use of left arm ,non existent follow thru and not motivated enough so miles apart from Shami, if selectors are smart they should create competition by selecting good bowlers, and letting go losers so bowlers will be on their toes and give it all when they are given a to and learn to improve like our batters are.
