Crookbond Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 i meant other backups like chepu, rahane etc ..guys like kohli, dhoni, nohit, dhawan, ash have all been playing non stop cricket for the last 7-8 months..this series is not worth risking an injury to any of those blokes before an important saf tour. i am not saying rest all of them but at least dhoni, kohli, bhuv could have been rested Dhawan just started playing International cricket like in February after which he was injured and only returned in mid IPL IIRC. Ashwin, Dhoni, B Kumar were rested during Zimbabwe ODI series. Kohli is the only one can make a case for.
Temujin Khaghan Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 people dont get excited about kulkarni.. he is just the right handed brother of unadkat
Temujin Khaghan Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (capt), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohit Sharma
adi B Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Dhawan just started playing International cricket like in February after which he was injured and only returned in mid IPL IIRC. G_B_ Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 i would actually rest bhuvi to see what the others can do.....
Yoda-esque Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Dhawal? Thought he might be more suited to tests
Temujin Khaghan Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Rohit sharma about dhawal in this year's ipl Kulkarni is one of the shadow men, who belongs to a list of premier domestic pace bowlers who do not come into the frame for India selection. Though Pankaj Singh tops that list, Kulkarni is not far behind. Those on Kulkarni's side say that his number of five-wicket hauls - 11, to be precise - is almost as much as the number of first-class games played by some of the reputed bowlers. Yet after being on the tour with the Indian team to New Zealand in 2009, Kulkarni has stayed in the wilderness and is yet to be offered a central contract. One of Kulkarni's main drawbacks, after returning from the tour in New Zealand in 2009, was said to be lack of genuine pace. Over the last four years, though, he has improved on his physique and fitness and it has reflected on his pace as well. "He's an absolute gym man," Rohit said. "He likes to work out, he likes to be fit. I know that he bowled [at] about 140[kph], so it shows that he has been really working hard." http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2013/content/story/633273.html looks like a under-fed herbivore to me though... all the best anyways.
Zanjeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Dhawal? Thought he might be more suited to tests Not really. He is more suited for Odis.
saneindian Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Only one "lethal" bowler :nervous: Pace junkie is me is disappoint :((
Laaloo Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Dhawal? Thought he might be more suited to tests Same here. Hope they don't base his test credentials on what he does in ODI's against cowlashers.
Laaloo Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Only one "lethal" bowler :nervous: Pace junkie is me is disappoint :(( well the 'delusional' in you will be always awake :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:
Vilander Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 kulkarni what pace? can bowl an effort ball of 140k once in a series...rest will be blazing phaasst at 130k.
G_B_ Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Dhawal from what i have seen is a 135 bowler (thats his average speed) he is not a veggie and has added a lot of muscle in recent years. Shaun pollock and mumbai indians do take a lot of credit for Dhawal's recent performances as a result of providing him with a lot of support (personal trainers etc).
Zanjeer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 can bowl an effort ball of 140k once in a series...rest will be blazing phaasst at 130k. dude, come on. He bowls 135 plus. He is as good as shami.
cowboysfan Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Ishant bowls at 140 but is the dumbest person to play for India, you need smarts to survive these brutal odi conitions
G_B_ Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I think if Dhawal does do well in the ODIs then IPL needs to take credit. A lot of people think that the when the IPL ends the franchises basically goto sleep but Mumbai Indians and Reliance industries have a 24/7 gym where players like Dhawal Kulkarni and other MI players like Tare and Sushant Marathe can have access to personal trainers brand new gyms and other fitness equipment. As these guys are part of the mumbai ranji team and also live in the city they can make full use of them. In the case of Dhawal he has had a lot invested in him by Mumbai Indians in the promise that he would mature in the future.
Vilander Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 dude' date=' come on. He bowls 135 plus. He is as good as shami.[/quote'] Bhai dont go by IPL speed even pssant becomes 148+ in IPL 4 overs..Dhawal has good control but a bit slower than Shami...definitely a good selection compared to Pissant.
G_B_ Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Dhawal is slower than Shami. That much is true. But he is faster than Mohit and Bhuvi. That much can be said.

Has a very good seam position. He is a good selection. I agree.
