CoverDrive Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I was actually looking at Cook's stats today and thought the same thing (in Test matches). Kohli could get his ODI records maybe... Cook can but Kohli maybe unlucky as ODIs are losing steam and we may see far fewer ODI's in coming years. Best way to look at Sachin's achievement is it would take Cook+Kohli to get even close to what he did.
CG Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Cook will probably end averaging 40-42.Thats his level .He has technical problems as he just does not get forward and .
vvvslaxman Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 bump.. We just have to make sure there is not many series with India. otherwise he will trundler bash his way to boost his average.
coffee_rules Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 He didn't know where his offstump was yesterday. Eng looks pretty rattled by Merv Hughes Johnson
Yoda-esque Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 He didn't know where his offstump was yesterday. Eng looks pretty rattled by Merv Hughes Johnson That ball could take anybody out
coffee_rules Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 That ball could take anybody out Yes, but to bowlers like Steyn and him who could seam the ball pitching on middle, one should keep a middle stump guard, rather than legstump that he seemed to have taken.
vvvslaxman Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Cook has some weaknesses that our bowlers completely failed to exploit. Only guy who can do that is Zaheer khan in prime. He has that special delivery 2 degree deviation
rkt.india Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Cook has some weaknesses that our bowlers completely failed to exploit. Only guy who can do that is Zaheer khan in prime. He has that special delivery 2 degree deviation Cook was complete fail against us in 2011 except one innings which made up for his prior failures. In India, he had to succeed with no swing.
vamos_rafa Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Cook was complete fail against us in 2011 except one innings which made up for his prior failures. In India' date=' he had to succeed with no swing.[/quote'] Yeah bar that 294, he never looked threatening. He has generally struggled agianst top quality bowling for quite a while. It's sad that people just come up with stupid mathematics to say he would do this in these may years. By that count, Sachin would have had 20k runs in test matches itself as wisden had once pointed out.
CSK Fan Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 That ball could take anybody out Nah gavaskar, dravid could have kept that out. Didn't move feet at all but have seen Dravid keep out similar deliveries of Akhtar. Half feet ahead and ball wouldn't have been allowed swing

rkt.india Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 thank youz1z this is what we are discusing in other thread :icflove: What comparison? Johnson swung and inch. Steyn was swinging miles. Shane Warne used to turn such deliveries at 80 kph, Steyn was making them go like that at 140Kph.

Shane Warne used to turn such deliveries at 80 kph' date=' Steyn was making them go like that at 140Kph.[/quote'] There is no comparison the ball was a full ball bowled at 150ks at 4mts ,Cook just did not get forward .While we were talking about rohit outside offstump playing and missing balls bowled at 6-8mts.

CG Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 are u seriously saying steyn was bowling short to rohit ? :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: what I am saying is the dismissal was due to just being stuck on the full ball.Rohit case is diff the ball was outside offstump and swinging away most of them were on good length rather than full.If steyn was littler fuller he might have got the edge.
rkt.india Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 yeah thats hwy rohit did not edge it you should be happy steyn swung them big You cannot do anything when ball swings like that.

Right. Steyn bowled at 6-8 meter mark on good length, not full length.
