Is there a weakness in Virat's batting technique?

has a bit of footwork problem against spinners in tests, looks over cautious maybe because of aggressive field settings..he also pokes at the ball outside off stump sometimes because of his planted feet..these are minor flaws,he`ll get over it

I think he not play well at bouncer ball' date=' I means pull short.[/quote'] He is a very good player of the pull as well as the hook shot. Rolls his wrists nicely and gets in good position while playing the hook off a bouncer.

Kohli plays the short ball very well, whether defensively or aggressively. Gets in good position and rolls his wrists nicely over the ball while playing the hook shot. Occasionally pokes at balls outside the offstump at the beginning of his innings. He is moving his feet more these days and playing the moving ball much better now. He is decisive about whether to play on the front foot or off the back foot. Is good while doing either and picks lengths excellently. Has excellent timing as well as power. Generally good against spinners but errs sometimes when close-in fielders are placed. Gets bogged down on slower pitches in test matches. Does not play his natural free flowing game then and gets out. Has to overcome this problem. Overall, perhaps the most complete batsman among the Indian youngsters.

yeah, precisely put..needs to keep the bat in check in saf,he`ll face many deliveries just outside off swinging away, needs to refrain from playing too many shots, should watch sachin`s innings in capetown and he'll learn a lot..the 100 kohli made in nagpur vs england where he left the leaving balls confidently gives me confidence that he can perform well in saf but needs high levels of concentration

yes , tends to fiddle too much outside the offstump , also can be frustrated if the runs don't come his way..... too impatient for tests , needs to learn from pujara on the value of the grind.

Pujara's strength is he doesn't go hard at the ball.

agree with the sentiments of expressbowling and adi on kohli technique. But there is not much wrong to begin with. I think in test matches its a case of temperament. Needs to find a mode he is comfortable with in that format. A bit like how Rohit finally found his mode in the ODIs.

agreed totally, even Rohit Sharma....Kohli tends to force the ball too much , that could lead to his downfall on wickets which have a little more in them for the bowlers... he needs to respect the good balls , and needs to learn to play late....does Kohli

Got the answer today. Temperament.
is this a joke :hysterical::hysterical:?? he probably has the best temperament in the world, will become better in tests

forgot to add "when playing for century". Yeah , agree. He has the best temperament.

I think he plays very well while going for either his team's win or his own century. Very strong mentally. But loses concentration often after completing centuries. Rarely shows the hunger to go for really large scores.

No glaring weakness. I mean repeatable weakness like Raina. One day he can nick behind, next day he can whack the same ball for 4. But left armers slanting across he takes time to get used to .
