probably kambli came to know that he has so many sympathizers, and got a heart attack j/k he recovered now :D

But in whose place would he have got chance? Our middle order was so stacked that even Laxman had to open the innings to get in the team

GUYS- Please understand that this is INDIA Team...ganguly n dravid were batting better than kambli, do u guys see his last few innings , he looked really out of form.... there was a RAMAN lamba scoring heavilly during those days he could not get a chance, w v raman got less chances...there were many who were deprived but yes kambli got into drinks n enjoing life that spoilt him- not every body cud be as disciplined as Sachin . every body said so much of success is not easy to digest

Frankly speaking...Kambli is an embarrassing person to be around. It is one thing to be friends as children....even enjoy his company but once you become a family man...it is difficult to bear with such people.Kambli refused to mature as a person. Had he continued in the team...they probably would have been friends professionally...but once he was not in the team...it just was not comfortable to be in his company. Why spend your precious little free time with him rather than with people you are comfortable with.

he actually got dropped for persistent misbehavior during the 1996 WC. after that he got chances in ODI's but never in tests.he never looked the same again. he had an ankle injury that put him on a long layoff.in later years leading to 2000, he often appeared unfit when selected. to blame failure against west indies in one series is flawed for several reasons.he got positive reviews from sobers nevertheless.not many batsmen did well considering the wickets in the series-first match a low scoring minefield.the third match in brand new Mohali had conditions the indian team didn't like after playing ondoctoreed pitches the previous two years, azhar was a lifelong failure against the old windies and had success only vs SA later.often he failed against strong attacks.ganguly had problems with the aussies and never convincing against short pitched bowling.even vengsarkar does not have too many hundreds overseas.if these players can pass their years beating upon the lieks of new Zealand and England, why not kambli? to put down his hundreds this way is wrong. however his consistent record as a public nuisance and his way of thinking can be questioned.a more level headed person would be resilient and would eventually overcome obstacles.

When Sachin appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepaty Vinod Kambli was the one who was sat in the seat which is usually reserved for family and friends.Thats how close his bond was. So despite all his personal issues sachin always maintained the friendship. At the time this was shot Kambli was no where near team India. But still sachin called him to appear on the show as his best friend. BxsH0Xj3LVI Mumbai ranji bosses wanted to drop Kambli a long time before he actually quit. It was sachin who told them to persist with him. I mean forget kambli. Somebody like Sachin was close to even Sanjay Manjrekar. But Sanjay was another media ***** who wrote articles like "is sachin faking injury" inorder to get noticed. They are still on speaking terms but even that friendship is not that close. The biggest problem with our media is that they live and die by masala. Kambli coming out praising sachin would never have been an eye catching story compared to Kambli blames sachin. Somebody like Agarkar and sachin are still close. The reason being Ajit has not gone and run his mouth off. People need to understand that the entire Mumbai pack of Dighe Sachin Sanjay Ajit Jambli Mazumdar Nilesh Kulkarni and too a lesser extent Amre were like the Beckham Butt Neiville bros Scholes etc for Manchester united. They were all lower middle class Marathis boys. One of the reasons mumbai were ranji champions multiple times in the 90s (won the trophy 4 times from 1990 to 2000) was this burst of youth.

So where the heck would Kambli had played ? He couldn't have opened- that's like saying lets get Raina to open in test cricket versus Steyn. He would've died. And he is not a wicket People who think Kambli did not get a 'fair shake' at test cricket are completely wrong. The mid 90s is when I followed cricket most avidly and Kambli got his chances. To put if very simply, Kambli = Raina, with a bit more flourish. Kambli was exceptionally weak to balls bowled at his body from over the wicket (right hand fast bowlers, so their normal side) pitching at good length or short of good length. Once the West Indians figured that out, Kambli was never the same batsman and he got boatloads of chances to work on it in domestic and ODI game. To complicate matters for Kambli, he had a huge attitude problem AND the middle order got clogged with talent around 96, when Kambli faded. Our 4 middle order bats from 1996 onwards were: Tendulkar Azhar Dravid Ganguly. To analyze: Tendy: best batsman of his time, he is undroppable. Azhar: captain of the side, while he did struggle overseas, he did notch centuries in England, Australia and South Africa and he was red-hot in the mid 90s. IIRC his average between 93 and 99 was 47-49 range. Again, undroppable. Ganguly came with a bang- he scored a debut century in Lords. How do you drop an Indian batsman who debuts with a ton in test cricket in England ? You cant. Dravid then looked super assured in England as well and his defensive technique was the best in the team at that time. Again, undroppable. So no middle order spot left for Kambli. Once VVS came around, Kambli's chances to be an 'injury replacement' vanished, since VVS as a much better middle order bat than Kambli. Heck, our middle order was so jam-packed in the late 90s that we used VVS to open the innings!! , which diminished his average significantly ( VVS without opening the innings = 8096 runs @ 48+).

Kambli himself said that when Sachin's father died. He went to airport to receive Sachin Tendulkar. So yes upto 99 early 2000s they were close . May be later something happened Anyway I think this is right time Sachin should visit the Kambli in hospital and break the ice. The future is not looking good for Kambli , Sachin should show his big heart towards him
