Statement of appeasement.......I remember him saying on a show that Taliban needs to be given an organizational structure or something to that effect..........

I don't see anything wrong with his comment, even Gavaskar will tell you the same thing, was Gavaskar a better test bat then Tendulkar I would say yes , did Tendulakar have talent yes, could he have done more in test ? did he have the ability to dominate a test match? did he change the fate of quite a few test matches like we saw Lara, Bravo do?What is Tendulkars average in test 99? 89?79?69 not even 59? Even Kallis and 10 other batters who have played cricket recently average that much, would Gavaskar average more in this era certainly seems he would be atleast 60, so by logic alone you can conclude Tendulkar under achieved in test, at this time Virat is a better odi bat then him, he does not even open, is there a chance Virat could be a batter bat in test in terms of changing a test match or even Rohit yes. Tendulkar greatness is in his logitivity sheer number of runs and him as a person, his allround game could play anywhere , conditions, any stroke, but could he do better average 60 in test win more test or save more per his talent yes. What makes one an all time great sportsman, simply the best to play his sport, Jesse Owen for winning so many events, Bolt for shattering the record to make a joke of previous best and no one in history not even can come close with his mark, M Ali for being a heavy weight who fights like a middle weight, and still no one can come close to him in a boxing ring if you compare his movement, stamina, aggression and mind. Federer for blowing away the grandslam win record of Sampras that no one thought was possible. Tendulkar certainly could be the most talented but would Virat have the same or more runs if he started cricket at his age and played for 24 years a few players would, so for a non cricket fans what makes Tendulkar an all time great? his stats average, match winning innings? He is certainly a great probably the best of this era but not the best batsmen the world has seen or greatest, even in his era Lara has scored bigger hundreds, playing for a weaker side has help draw or win more games single handedly was more flamboyant and attractive to watch and played more aggressively, Richards was a more aggressive batter then him with similar average although he never cared about it but only thought about dominating the bowler, so we fans need to keep it in perspective Tendulkar a terrific person , cricketer, privileged to have seen him, but he is a human and not beyond compare.

Great post. He damaged his reputation further in the last 2 years of his career. An average of 57 which he had in 2011 after playing 22 years was a lot higher than most of his contemporaries, now he's just in the mix. Even his 100/innings got worsened considerably. People who have seen him play would still consider him one of the best if not the best of his generation but the future generations won't get that right away. He is no Viv Richards that people would talk about his destructive batting for ages. Even some of Lara's innings would be more talked about. I agree with you when you say he's an underachiever in tests. He's the best batsman that I have seen in the last 17 years, he was the most technically perfect, he did not have a single weakness and he could play all the shots with ease, but the stats he ended up with don't back that up so clearly.

People can turn the table and say "West Indians are lucky that they didn't face sachin" ..They can always say if Srikkanth a batsman with crappy technique can hit 7 fours and a 6 in a world cup final against the most feareed attack what would viru do.. Cut the crap Imran. We know what you are upto. It is not to put down those great fast bowlers of WI or Sunny. Just to say Imran is a scumbag .
That's a catch. Good one :cantstop:

Definitely Brian Close.
ok just read about Tony being hit countless time by Windies attack as was Waugh by Ambrose , Walsh and what a courageous bat Steve was to score the bog hundred against them I remember watching the inning and crining seeing the bombardment and that's where I started respecting Waugh a great deal, If our batters want that respect let them stand up and show courage which they do have no doubt.

Whoa! Who's the guy in the picture?
I think it was during a series where TonyG said something about making the WI grovel. WI didn't like it one bit. Brian had to bore the brunt :cantstop:

The only difference between imran and all those paki "experts" on their channels is that his English is more refined, hence people take a little more notice.

He wasn't a great batter on pitches with uneven bounce where he usually got bowled and literally squatted on the wicket when he got out, did he play on uncovered wickets? In India alone I would have Gavaskar, Dravid in my team for test before Tendulkar, also feel Sehwag, Laxman has had a greater impact in winning games single handedly for the team then Tendulkar.

Mcgrath was not great? and donald was not quick all the time? How did dravid fare on sporty wickets of SA? U have right to ur views but some of this stuff is not correct.Sachin has been playing from 1988 the bowling standards of pakistan,wi,aus,nz,eng , were good at that time and he has played through many attacks which are considered best of attacks of alltime by their respective countries. People always have a bowler who troubles them,Lara was a great player fo spin but struggled in india but nobody brings it up.Nobody is perfect Sachin has his shortcomings.

That is my point people have problems even great players have weaknesses , bad phases bowlers they can succumb too, Tendulkar is not an exception he is a great but not beyond compare or unbeatable after all he averages just 54 not even 64 or 74 , if he was the best ever then the numbers don't suggest, so to the people who think he was god of batting then that is blasphemy, same for people who think anyone who thinks a little bit less of him then that is a traitor is bull, probably the best bat of his generation but fully agree with what Imran or Gavaskar would say about not facing the Windies quick in that era with no safety gear, uncovered wickets, there is a huge gap between 54 and 99 , until now any comparisions to Maradona were obnoxious but Messi has shown it he can be as good, same way we will see players who are as good if not better, one thing that Tendulkar leaves behind is a legacy , but he is no M Ali, Jessi Owen, Maradona or Federer or Bradman, he averages only only 54, that is a ballpark of a great player not an alltime or greatest ever, nor is he beyond compare. McGrath , Donald were the good bowlers of their time but nor were , especial MCGRATH AS FAST OR FIERCE AS Malcolm, Garner, Holding, Thomson, Lillee, Tendulkar has not done well against them as much as his talent should have had him.

Have u seen them live? I have seen through videos and I doubt if they were faster than akhtar lee, steyn .Garner was fearsome with the bounce he got form good length but sachin has faced guys like ambrose and done well against him. Regarding Federer ? is he not in the decline for many seasons now he too has his weakness at clay.
