Ishant must not play in SA tests!

Seeing the current form of our bowlers, in combination with the conditions, my bowlers for Wanderers would be Shami Umesh Zak Ishant Ashwin with Ashwin batting at 7. Ishant is not a good enough bowler in tests. His problems of scrambled seam, bad release, non rhythmic run-up etc. remain. The only reason I would include him is because we badly need a tall pacer in Wanderers. If all the pacers have similar release points, it becomes much easier for the batsmen to play as they don't have to adjust for ball trajectory and bounce.We don't have anybody else in this team who is tall. Further, if Zak in not fit enough to last the whole day and bowl with intensity, we would have another pacer. Leaving out Umesh, our fastest bowler, in Wanderers is madness. We need an out and out quick in our lineup.

We cant play 5 bowlers there.,We need extra batsman has backup on those seaming tracks. So ishant shld not play. zak,umesh,shami, Ashvin shld be our bowlers. I would play umesh simply for his pace over others.

If any reason i would not pick him it is his past record. Three countries where pace bowlers should enjoy , he has horrible record. But for the one spell against Punter he hardly did anything of note in SA, OZ and England.

I amazed at the euphoria with Ishant cos of one game. Its like then last 2 years has been forgotten and everyone is going crazy cos had one game took 4. Last odi still low 130s and still no movement, scrambled seam. Yes did ok and took 4, one holed out on boundary. But does not prove a lot. Yadav had one dropped and 2 or 3 edged staright down 1st slpis throat of Miller but no slip was in place and dhoni doesnt dive. So lets not get carried away by one game Yadav has pace and looked good. He will be vital.

Shami and Umesh would be my first 2 picks. But I am having a feeling , Dhoni may not pick Umesh.

Dhoni wont pick Yadav. Has his favs, Ishant is one of his beloved I am not writing Ishant off for ever. But just due to one odi game he suddenly is in!! Needs to deliver for a lot longer then that to sudddenly get back in test team!!

Umesh has struggled to take wickets everywhere. Doesn't seem in any rhythm at all. Bowling 90 mph on a couple of occasions is not going to get him in the team as Shami is perfectly capable of hitting those speeds himself.

Did you even watch the match? You don't see how well a bowler's bowling by looking at the scorecard. If it weren't for the dropped catches, he'd have better figures.

Ishant will play the first test and be ineffective and Yadav will replace him for the 2nd test.

Team selections shouldn't really affect performances. India went in with 4 spinners against England still could not beat them. Quality is important . Not Quantity.

Yadav and Shami will definitely play. Ashwin will be only spinner in the side. Ishant can play only when Ashwin is dropped and Jaddu plays as an all-rounder.

ZK + Shami will play. It is a choice between Umesh Yadav vs Ishant Sharma vs BK Ashwin needed for boosting lower order batting esp given top order will collapse against Steyn, Morkel and Philander.

This, Zak and Shami are definitely playing. I'd play Yadav in Jo'berg as the pitch offers extra bound. Ishant has no brain, leave him out.

lol.. whenever we lose this is a common excuse. if this bowler had played, he would have taken plenty of wickets and gave away no runs at all. Next match the bowler plays and gets tonked and same mantra is repeated with some other bowlers.

bhuvi might not be even in contention. as all 3 quick bowlers looked better than him in last 2 odis where we lost or gave away runs in those games was in middle when spinners and part timers bowled
