i do not know why people worries so much about pace. pace is just plus point.

You can play out a 60mph accurate tundler all day long in a 5 day match but when you have a 150+ scatter gun at you,you are scared for your life even with all that protective gear. Bhuvan has a gun inswinger....He sets up batsmen and gets them bowled and LBW a lot.....But Johnson yesterday just took out one of their main players out of the equation with an inswinging delivery,that's the difference right there.

jonson just is on fire in this series, where was johnson 5 months go when asshies took place in England or where was johnson when england was there in 2010???? i would like to have 130 bowler who could swing the ball and get the right line length.i would like to have bowler like Macgrath, asif, tostobe, philander, b kumar, :--D

He did clock 145k.. it is not like he didn't try to he was not forced to. He did. But he was hardly threatening. Either the speed guns were screwed up . Or His wrist position was all messed up. If a batsman has lot of time to play you consistently you are not quick regardless of how much the clock shows. Captain backing cannot make Ishant bowl like Johnson.

Problem is tactical too.

That is how it should be ideally. There was no need to change things at that time. He had a great inswinger but thing is our guys go too every coach possible and everyone tells them different things. Take the example of Irfan who went to Wasim Akram and Wasim changed his grip of the ball but thing is only Wasim could bowl and be accurate with that, not everyone can bowl with that grip. If I try to bowl with that grip I will be allover the place. I Knew this thing before too but Wasim himself confirmed it in a masterclass show on star cricket recently saying that he used to bowl with this crooked thumb grip to get more swing but Wasim could do this because he was strong and could still generate pace with that grip but Irfan lost his pace and control after that. Our guys who are doing well with their natural style should stay away from coaches.

That sounds like an expert advice from Ravi Shastri lol.....You are stating the obvious :haha: ......Let us take Vinay for example he will bowl a few tight overs in the beginning,snap 1-2 wickets here and there and will be absolutely destroyed at the end to end up on hypothetically speaking 9 0 60 2.....Let us say someone like Tait might have similar figures on a flat wicket aided by some spray gun bowling but he will have one spell in there some where with those 2 wickets that will change the momentum of the game. At least for my generation right from the days of Waqar,Donald,Walsh to Akthar,Bond,Lee to the current lot I have seen that happen time and time again.....An express bowler will always change the momentum of t he game. Now I am not saying Umesh is in the same league but hey he atleast gives us a shot compared to Vinay,Mohit and Unadkat

^Even BK is too uni-dimensional,I thought we had something special on our hands,but he is too one-dimensional as of now,Can't bowl at the death,can't bowl in the middle overs,Being really good with the new ball just want cut it,needs to add more skills if he wants to make it count and no he is better than the rest excuse won't just cut it....As of now he is still in the same boat as rest of the tundlers.

But not as quick as Johnson or AKhtar or Lee on a consistent basis. Johnson was not backed when he was spraying . Infact he was ridiculed. He is doing well because he is accurate now. Even with accuracy he hasn't threatened their top order much in this match. I don't think any countries encourage spray guns. Because they always have another bowler who can bowl almost fast enough. If Johnson was encouraged he would have played in the Ashes in England. One day series in India , Pattnison's injury helped his cause. Umesh is definitely the fastest in India. That is the only reason he is even in the squad. So he does get a bit of backing. In Tests unlike one dayers Dhoni cannot underuse him. He will have a chance. When he gets a chance he should try to bowl as fast as possible.
