Cricketics Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Hasn't scored much today or batted much but people are already feeling he looks nervous, My personal view on him is like that of Pujara. He is the deal. He is actually better than Rohit Sharma and a lot of other players who look great but aren't actually the best players in the country. This is not anything against Rohit, but I feel we should be grooming Rahane and giving him a long rope in test cricket, regarldess of how he fare here. I am not sure how much he will make today or later, but even Pujara got lot of chances on his first tour to South Africa and eventually he was considered as the future prospect. I feel Rahane should be dealt in similar way. He might not look great like Rohit or Kohli, but he got it in him for test cricket. I am a big Rahane fan. and feel he is one of the best in the country who isn't given much attention. He is the deal guys. Give him few innings.
King Tendulkar Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Well will get 2 test matches at least, so lets hoping One thing about rahane is that does have back foot play
vvvslaxman Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I think it is better he stays under the radar for a while. Once he starts getting runs consistently he will start showing more confidence. One thing i have noticed he is a fighter. He loves to fight it out. Not too shabby a technique. Just the nervousness might be there. But i didn't see much of nerves today.
surajmal Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 give him until the series down under - just over a year. By then, Zol should be ready :--D
Cricketics Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Well will get 2 test matches at least, so lets hoping One thing about rahane is that does have back foot play Thing is he is pure hard work like Pujara. Pujara/Rahne both are like that. You might have heard the term "play to the merit of the ball", this is it. He defines that.
King Tendulkar Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Well gets a battling 50 today and it wont be forgotten

Tendulkar used to race to 20-30s in test when he looked in good touch and on the other hand was well supported by Dravid, Re-laxed man who used to continue helping INdia go beyond 400+ mark even after Tendulkar would have gotten out early. This is where Rahane will be doing that. I believe Rahane-Pujara might become our next lax-dravid combo.
skindia Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Rahane is Future Sachin...He is suited for all Pitches unlike dhawan,Rohit or Vijay.
skindia Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Give him 100 odi like Rohit...U can see better Record Than Rohit Sharma and more consistency..
King Tendulkar Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Rahane is Future Sachin...He is suited for all Pitches unlike dhawan' date='Rohit or Vijay.[/quote'] Yeah dont hype him to much:hysterical:
Zanjeer Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 He is suitable for test matches rather than Odis. He looks scared to be honest. I really want him to succeed but gut feeling is that its gonna be really hard for him to succeed with this attitude. You need a bit of mongrel at this level. You can't be all nice and expect everyone to be nice with you. I know he is playing his second test match but he was the same when he was playing for RR.
