Evaluate the players based on their performance from -10 to +10.

Guidelines:-

10  = Exceeded  Expectation
5   = Met Expectation
0   = Sometimes Met Expectation
-5  = Below Expectation
-10 = Atrocious performance. Played for the opponent.

Here expectations are not what we are expecting from the players , its what is expected from the player playing in that position.

Ex:- India vs SL 2011 WC Finals. sehwag = -8 sachin = -3 gambhir = 7 kohli - 2 msd = 8 uv = 3 raina = darty = 2 zaheer = 5 patel = 2 sreesanth = -9

My evaluation for the current test series so far, Dhawan = -3 Vijay = 4 Pujara = 7 kohli = 8 Rohit = -9 ( only reason he got -9 instead of -10 is because he is averaging 6.66 ) Rahane = 5 MSD = -3 Ashwin = -2 Sami = 4 Jaddu = 6 Ishanth = -5 Zak = -4

FIND OF THE TOUR - RAHANE AND MOHAMMAD SHAMI. Best player on tour so far - Cheteshwar Pujara Dhawan - 5 - Has looked decent in all innings, just not been able to realize how good he can be and throws it away after being on 25. Needs to realize this is not ODI'S. Learn some from Vijay. Vijay - 6.5 - Great comeback. Looked good every time. Didn't play any warm up or ODI like others on tour and went straight into first test without any match practice. Slowly and steadily he has gotten better on tour. Missed out on a good 100. Well done to him. Pujara 8.5 - Best test player on tour. If not for run out by Kohli in first innings of first test, might be the best batsman in the series by stats. That was his lowest score in the series so far and he was looking brilliant in that innings where he had played close to 100 deliveries. Kohli - 8.0 - Like Pujara, he's been our player on tour. Has lacked concentration at times, but has shown immense temperament to battle it out when the world's best bowlign line up were bowling at their best. Handled Steyn-Morkel-Philander trio really well. 8 for him. Rohit - 2.5 - Looked decent in first outing, but has kid of lost confidence as the team has moved on in the series. Has come in at crucial times and has fallen to the pace and swing of South African bowling. Still long way to go for him and he can make it a better series for himself by playing a match savign knock if required in the final innings of this tour. Rahane - 7 - Find of the tour. He wasn't talked much about when the tour was starting. But he has earned his own. Batted at crucial times for longer period and built p'ships with different players. 2 fifties already and both really gritty knocks. Dhoni - 5. Just like Dhawan, he hasn't done extremely bad with the bat. Just that he hasn't realized what he can be. With all the experience of 2 past tours, he should have batted better and tried to form big p'ships with young players like Rahane. Hasn't been extremely bad, but has gotten starts which he has failed to convert. 5 for him. Zaheer/Ishant - 5 - Been good in patches but lacked Rhythm. With all the fitness they have done recently, they haven't been able to come close to the other seamer in the series for INdia. At times, bowled really well, but very inconsistent. Mohammed Shami - 7. Bowled his heart out in his first ever test in South Africa. And after disappointing start in 2nd test in first few overs, returned well on 3rd day with crucial wicket of Amla. Could have had more. Like Rahane, find of the series. Ashwin - 3.5. - Didn't look like taking wickets in much of the first test. I thought he didn't bowl that bad on the last day, but again he was a bit inconsistent on that day. Just 1 game he played and he gets 3.5. Jadeja -7. Bowled well on day 2 and both on day 3. Can easily get to a 5 or 7 wickets in this inning. He has looked like troubling the South Africans, the most. Picked as an all rounder, with 3 trip hundreds, the Indian people expect him to put something with the bat too. So was disappointing to see him get out early, but he has made it up with his bowling.

Makes more sense to wait another two days before doing this. So far: Vijay: Adapting well to the 5-day format, has justified his selection. Dhawan: Needs to be a bit more patient, should get some more games Pujara: Top class Kohli: Also very good, but he can still do better Rohit: Terrible series, needs to redeem himself soon or he'll get booted Rahane: Good with the bat, instrumental in the field. MSD: Has been more attacking (tactically) than usual, batting has been below par. Ashwin: Bowled economically but will need to adapt to overseas pitches for wickets Shami: Has been a good series for him, should continue working on variety/line/length Jadeja: Best bowling performances in tests for India this year Ishant: Needs to put more thought into his bowling, some good moments but average overall Zak: Initially good but lacks the fitness to keep playing tests.

Jaddu is strictly a bowler though,he cant handle a semi decent pacer and i am perfectly ok with picking him as just a bowler.

Yes, we shouldn't put too much pressure on him as a batsman, but it's fine to expect some runs from him. It's not Afrid-like situation where the batsman is plain dumb. Jadeja is far better player with better mind for a batsman who can still battle it out. I believe he can definitely give us one of those occasional gritty knocks like the one played by Rahane in this series. He has it in him to do so. I don't think he is that bad of a player against pace or swing. He might not be the greatest, but anyone who can score 3 triple hundreds, can do this. He has scored runs for India in odi's and he has it in him to do it in test too.
