Vijy Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 As far as avgs go, this Anureet Singh fella has good stats. Has anyone any idea what kind of a bowler he is. I have a feeling that he is a trundler, but he seems to be a very economical trundler.
buntyj Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 think sharath vihari and dhawan are the ones knocking hardest for india selection;vihari may have to wait as batting isnt the immediate problem; only 2 matches but shreyas of karnataka also appears a batting allrounder prospect

Jadhav is strictly a ODI player who must be given a chance in the international ODI side. Fazal and Tiwary don't offer anything new, and are mostly doing well primarily this season. Jiwanjot has had a mixed season, but done quite well on the whole. Khadiwale is presently a one-season wonder. I rate Rahul quite highly in Tests, along with Vihari in that list. Ojha played a few matches and is clearly short of international class. Amongst the bowlers, just who is this Anureet Singh? Decent career stats and very good season stats. Dabholkar is yet another SLA, and we don't need more of them. Sharath and Bumrah are both promising prospects. Pankaj has been doing very well for a long team, and he should aready have been in the team. Dhawan's record is impressive and he must play a lot more 'A' games. Amit Yadav is a prospect who is never discussed enough, but his avg as a spinner in India is far better than nearly any other spinner around. He can bat a bit too. Saxena is another player who should be in the 'A' teams. We need a decent back up test wk/bat who can replace MSD in the near future, a solid test opener & 2 seamers to replace Zak & Ishant.We should play BK,Shami & Umesh.Aaron & Pandey are my back ups.Bumrah,Rishi should be in the A team along with Vihari.Kedar should be in the ODI squad replacing Raina.

Test squad should be given some time right now to get settled.Though we should drop Zak,Ishant ri8 now.Dhawan,Vijay,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane,Rohit,Dhoni,Jadeja,BK, Shami,Umesh is my first XI in overseas tests.Reserves:-a new opener(back up), Rayudu,a back up keeper who bats well,Ashwin,Ojha(only in sc),Pandey,Aaron.Though I'll bring in Pankaj if someone fails or gets injured.He is 29 now,so I don't think he has any future in the team thus Pandey.We should select the back up opener & the back up keeper based on away A tours.I'll back Jiwanjit & Samson for those 2 spots.

ShebbySB Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 This is my India A team for tests:-Jiwanjit,Rahul,Zol,Baba,Tiwary,Vihari,Samson, Rishi,Rasool,Aaron,Bumrah.Jalaj,Dhawal should also be in the squad.Pankaj is too old to be in the A side,we should give exposure to our young crop by touring Eng,Aus,SA, NZ.The ODI side should be like this-Chand,M.Pandey,Baba,Zol,Kedar,Tiwary,Samson, Rishi,Rasool,Dhawal,R.Shukla.Jalaj,Bumrah,Nadeem/Rahul Sharma should be in the squad.

However, seeing his recent performances in the IPL over last 2 seasons, I feel that he doesn't have enough in him to be an international batsman. Now, using IPL form to make judgments on someone's FC record is very silly, and I realize that. Since I haven't seen him actually play this season, this is all one has to decide what sort of a batsman he is. It is possible he's improved a lot, in which case he should play for the 'A' sides. Ponting, Dravid never looked good in IPL. He does not have an alround game and tried too hard to slog in T20.

Vijy Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Jadhav and Tiwary are somewhat similar players in terms of stats. Both have solid FC records and very good List A records. Of the two, Tiwary has age on his side, while Jadhav doesn't. But, Jadhav's List A record is highly impressive, more so than any other domestic batsman if you take both avg and SR into account.
