If dhoni could do what prior did in 2013 in NZ or even half of that and get 50-60 then that could be job done. he's the friggin captain. He HAS TO BAT WELL OVERSEAS OR WHAT ELSE IS HE THERE FOR? Wicket-keeping? Is a wicket-keeper only cricketer ever the captain?

Just incredibly badly led with someone who has no accountabilty and leads team for his own finicial interests and to settle scores. Just need a leader to select right players(basically on merit which is not happening at moment), enthuse them with belief and back them. Plus someone who puts some fire up our asses and has a cricket brain. Kohli. The guy is watered down on the field with dhoni there but when he bats, he wants to win. Sadly his stupid shot led to the chain of events but that's the guy you want. Give him the captaincy and sack dhoni. Saha/DK at 7, so no dhoni influence. Kohli managed fast bowlers well in tri series and zim and went for wickets mostly. That's using VK and unadkat, where unadkat bowled well!

However India need to realize that he is an allrounder and they need another bowling option. On away tours to NZ, Aus or Eng if you top 3 pacers aren't world class you are going to need a fourth pace option.

If Dhoni and Jadeja had tried to play sensible cricket, India would have lost the game by 80 runs instead of 40. For chases like this, you need a technically competent tailender, someone like Siddle, Kumble, or Philander, to bat with one of the specialist batsmen. India has a very long tail in these conditions. That thing is debatable. I know where you guys coming from, but to each his own. Sometimes, the coutner attacking approach can work, but it's just my opinion that Dhoni and Jadeja, when batting together might have just hung around together a bit.
