What are your choices for other two fast bowlers ?will be a tough choice between bhuvi shami and aaron. We all know what Bhuvi can do in a helpful condition Aaron is back with a bang in domestics and a quality ODI bowler and shami is our best bowler for slog overs and is our main bowler in recent games but one thing is for sure we wont see all these 3 play in the 1st game

express bowling Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Ability to "Hit the deck hard" is perhaps the most important quality to posses for being a good pacer in all conditions. A lot of shoulder and back goes into doing it. It enables pacers to extract steep bounce and pace off the pitch. Get seam movement more frequently. The pacer need to have strong shoulders and back for this. Bowling fuller and hitting the deck hard is possible. I personally think that this quality is more important than higher release speed. It enables pacers to "EXTRACT LIFE OUT OF THE PITCH". Before speed guns came, bowlers who could hit the deck hard and extract life from the pitch were known as FAST bowlers. Srinath had this ability tremendously. Among the current lot, Umesh, Aaron,Shami and Ishant can do it sometimes. They need to increase the frequency. I am really happy that Dhoni is recognizing this quality. I just hope that he uses Umesh more as he can hit the deck hard with decent frequency.
express bowling Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 We often hear a lot of posters comparing PK, BK, VK with Philander, Asif etc. because of somewhat comparable release speeds of 127 to 137 k. But the major difference is that Philander, Asif etc. can or could hit the deck hard when needed and extract life out of the pitch and our medium pacers cannot. It reduces wicket taking ability a lot, especially when the ball is not swinging. ( which is under most conditions ).

GolGappe Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Yes, I forgot about Shami. He should be in. Maybe Bhuvi sits out in one-dayers where pitches will be bit more batsmen oriented. I am hopeful that Binny will get some chances. India badly needs a seam bowling all-rounder for World Cup and it would be good to find out right away if Binny is good enough for international cricket.

He is just coming back after a long time and will certainly take a few matches to turn the heat up. why did they pick him if he is not ready,he is not there for a scenic new zealand holiday.I would play Shami,ishant,varun ,bhuvi and Jaddu.there is no need for 2 spinners in NZ.
