Roshanrocks Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 WHen will these guys make into the Indian team... Nearest guess gets to brag incessantly for the rest of eternity
rkt.india Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 They are far too young. Zol does not have much experience batting against quality pacers. Samson has faced them only in IPL. They both need at least 2-3 FC seasons. Zol made his FC debut just this season. There is a huge difference between U19 and the highest level. Even Kohli struggled for a year and got dropped after an early selection. We need a new bunch of A team to tour overseas.

Another way to look at it is to fast track them into the team if you're sure of them, rather them have them spend 2-3 formative years in the mediocrity of domestic cricket.

rkt.india Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 So your guess is 2018? Zol is yet to play a full FC season, is only 18. I do not find him anything special till now. Early inclusion can halt their formative development which happened in case of Yuvraj, Raina, Rohit who all played at 18-20 years of age. Even Kohli struggled in first year and was dropped. So instead of select them and drop if they do not perform, let them play for India A first. Zol is at least 3 years away from International cricket, Samson at least 2.
smbhayi Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Age is in their court... Keep performance in 2-3 year consistantly... Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using Tapatalk 2
fineleg Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Sanju Samson doing reasonably good. Can BCCI appoint More or Pandit or some specialist ex-stumper to work with Sammie to improve his Keeping skills!?
NareshK Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Good move by selectors. Better to play him in an ODI series and see if he can do well rather than just be wasted in first class cricket. I think this kid has the X factor, similar to Kohli who can take on the bowlers. We are playing too many tuk tuk batsmen like Rahane, Pujara, Rayudu etc. in our side.
Cricashfaq Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I don't know when Zol is gonna make his International debut but i assume Sanju Samson will start it very very soon as he is now picked up for England ODI, T20 series and this lad will grow fast. May his fitness and consistency remains well throughout his career
Lord Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I doubt he'll play in ODIs.May just have been picked for T20
Raghav_12 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 but how Samson gets place in team. Srini going nowhere, so Dhoni is going nowhere. :-(
undisputed chap Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Sanju should play only t20i for India so he can be in the 2016 t20 wc. Pls no odis & tests for him. Odi debut in 2016 tests debut in 2018
ZeroBlack Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 How is the ZOL going? Any news on this kid, Zol and Samson are the future need to get rid of NoHit, Dhoni etc

May score lots of runs on pattas but will be found out by top quality bowlers. Chand : Very incosistent Aparajit : Has good technique but still a shotless wonder easily gets bogged down Samson : Not seen much of him but some consider him the most complete of the lot. Lokesh Rahul, Karun Nair: Very good. The best of the lot according to me. Jiwanjot: Decent against pacers has a weakness vs spinners. Ideally they should all be playing county cricket but instead the bcci rather have them play in the tamasha league.

Agree, they and along with the upcoming bowlers should be playing county cricket or first class in Australia, SA, NZ etc.
